I have also had this pain before and recently I have had it for over two weeks, a couple times a day at least. I have even expeienced it when I laugh out loud and it stops me in my tracks. I can't get a deep breath because it feels like something will pop in my left lung, just under the bottom of the breast area toward the middle; where the heart is located. I'm glad it's not just me. But I do wish I knew exactly what was causing it. I also have had a heart flutter for a long time and now it is happening more frequently. It flutters and makes me cough. Any ideas???

I was told that this was due to a swollen breast plate nothing more. I have the same problem and have had it for years ever since I was a teen I am 32 yrs old now. It is a sharp pain in the left side of my chest or breast feels like stabbing , it is hard to breathe in, the deeper the breathe the more it hurts. I have had an episode last up to 20 min. at that point I am very light headed and dizzy due to lack of oxygen. sometimes if I move just right or get the courage up to take a deep breathe I can feel a pop in my chest and the pain will be gone. if you are concerned about your condition you should see your doctor if your doctor doesn't know maybe you should get a second opinion. I have been to see a cardiologist and he said it was definitely not my heart. I finally went to see a chiropractor he told me of the condition and I verified it with my doctor.

I am 18years old and I have recently been having chest pain. Just underneath my left breast on the inside. It could possibly be from the underwire in the bras.
When I was 10 I was diagnosed with Bornholm Disease. This is a disease which makes it hard to breathe in. I woke up in the middle of the night and it felt like someone was stabbing me repeatedly in the chest everytime I breathed in. It got worse with deep breathing.

There is a helpful website link above that can explain more, I was put on medication and it went away. If you have already had Bornholm Disease then you can get it back again.
My suggestion to you would be to go to your doctor and check it out.
Hope this was helpful :-)

I'm a 31 white male, very fit and healthy, and have been getting what every1 is talking about once or twice a year since i was 13. The pain is very intense and really scary, but i really find that if you try to breathe through it ( i know it hurts) the pain goes away a lot quicker. Every deep(ish)breath is kind of treatment in my case, and fortunately the pain disperses after around 5 mins.
I cant offer any more than some reassurance, but in at least my case i don't think this weird condition is life threatening.

If you have ulcers and you're also having pain under your lef breast, it could be caused by a swollen lymph node. Do you have any other sort of symptoms? Let me know how you're doing okay?

Can you tell me what PCS stands for? I thought this was an acronym that was a different name for cell phones. Can you enlighten me? Thanks so much!

For the past 2 days I've had sharp stabbing pain under my left breast, and I don't know whats causing it. I'm being cautous, and I took some advil, which didn't help. I also have some rash/tumor looking thing on the side of the pain, I am a little swollen were the pains at. It hurts to breathe, and laugh. I also have to carry a very heavy backpack to school and it hurts picking it up and walking with it on. Feels like I'm straining it. I don't know what to do. I am 16years old and my mother told me to google it and this is were I wound up. Any help on this would be awesome. thanks.

It could be Spontaneous pneumothorax. Thats what I have. Occasionally out of no where I get this ungodly sharp pain either under one of my breasts or in my chest. It feels like someone is stabbing you. It hurts with every breath I take and laying down just makes it worse. After a while (sometimes feeling like it last forever) the pain just slowly goes away.

Spontaneous pneumothorax is a collection of air or gas in the space between the lungs and the chest that "collapses" the lung and prevents it from inflating completely.
Symptoms often begin suddenly, and may occur during rest or sleep. They can include:
Abnormal breathing movement
Restricting chest wall motion when breathing to protect against pain
Splinting -- bending over or holding the chest to protect against pain
Cough
Rapid respiratory rate
Shortness of breath
Sudden chest pain or chest tightness
Breathing or coughing makes pain worse
Chest pain may be dull, sharp, or stabbing

There are two types of spontaneous pneumothorax:

Primary spontaneous pneumothorax
Secondary spontaneous pneumothorax
Spontaneous means there is no traumatic injury to the chest or lung. Primary spontaneous pneumothorax occurs in people without lung disease. It occurs most often in tall, thin, young people.

Sometimes people have a family history of this problem. People who have had one spontaneous pneumothorax are at higher risk of the same thing (on the same side or the other side) occurring again.

Secondary spontaneous pneumothorax occurs in people who have underlying lung disease

I hope this helps you guys and good luck if thats what it is.
