I am a 47 year old woman and I have been having the same pains and it is horrible. It shows up (the worst pain) in the middle of the night. I had a mammogram but it came back normal. I have been having this pain for the last year. I am terrified at this point because the doctors can't find anything. I really need help because the doctors are looking at me like i am crazy. So I stopped going. But last night was the worst pain ever. Someone please help me understand what it could be ???

Anxiety and GERD cause these problems. If you drink alot of ALcohol that too can cause the acid reflux pains you describe.

I had those pains when I was in High school, it eventually went a away and then it came back a couple years back. I went to a doctor for a check up for a job and she noticed I had an irregular heart beat. After talking to her about it and then thinking about the times I got the pain. It is due to being in good shape with an irregualr heart beat. When I was in shape I got them quite a bit. Then When I stopped excersing it went away, then when I started excersing again it started up again. With the irregular heart beat I have to be careful on my excerses and make sure I dont to to much. I have an excuse now why I dont excersie to much.

I have had these same symptoms for years too. Since a teen and still go to so many Dr's no one told me this was due to a swollen breast plate. I now have high blood pressure and have been put on beta blockers for possible angina but still waiting on blood work & chest x-ray. The feeling hurts so bad at time as a 38 year old I am often brought to tears. I hope they figure out what it is very soon because I just want relief for whatever it is since I have been dealling with it for so long. I never know when I am going to have an episode that is the most frustrating part of this. However it mostly happens at rest or when stressed. I would love consistancy on the diagnosis online because I have heard every diagnosis from costal cartilage issues, Costochondritis, to angina, but we will see what they come up with this time.

I've had these since I was a kid. My Mother would tell me to lay propped up at about a 45 degree angle and take nice long breaths. It helps!

OMG Thank you. For years, I've wondered what it was but it only happened once or twice a year. I just had the longest episode day but I count myself lucky compared to others. It was only 45 seconds but the pain is SO intense and I can't get a full lungful of air. Again, thanks for sharing.

This is exactly what i get. I then found out it was a collection of air and gas between the lungs. I normally breathe slowly and take short breaths until it goes away. I first realized it when i was 10, up until now, i'm 14. Nothing serious has happened throughout that time. Don't get too worried. You're not the only one who experiences it. :-)

Today I felt this pain and I'm a pretty healthy 43 year old, African American Male. So I know it has nothing to do with pregnancy. I just so happen to have Tums in my desk and took 3. In less than 3 minutes the pain subsided and I could breathe deep or shallow. Thanks for the help. I get a similar excruciating pain in back and it's associated with GAS as well.

I have the same problem almost every single day until I did something about it and went to the doctors. It's gas!! That's it. Take something like a acid reducer. And watch what u eat(:

Hello; basically last night, I was with my friends, and we were all laughing. I had to breathe deep out to calm myself down. But when I breathed out, I realised I had done it ever too hard. Then, my chest started to hurt. I started to breath in and out, lightly, to stop the pain. It sort of stopped hurting, so I decided to go to bed. And as usual, you would normally turn around and move in bed to find a comftable position to sleep in; but when I did the next morning, my chest hurt again. I didn't know why, and I was puzzled. So I was going to sit up on my bed, but as I was about to lift myself up, it hurt again. I don't know wheather it's my left breast or my chest, but it hurts when I move, or breathe out and in, deeply,lightly-ish. It just hurts. Or is it my ribs/lungs pushed out too much?? Any suggestions?? It really hurts!!
