I am 36 years old and I have also had this my entire life and had everyone look at me completely vexed and perplexed. I keep thinking that my lower abdomen maybe is separating in my organs are falling forward? But I don't really know. The feeling though is a ripping tearing from the centre of my belly button down through my urethra. And it comes and goes and I'm not really sure what instigates it. I don't have it as frequently as when I was a kid. However I have had it in my 30s and I still can't seem to find an answer. So thank you for sharing your story.

I really appreciate you sharing your story. I've been wondering for years if I had ripped open the muscles in that area. But I can't get any doctor to check me. Nobody will believe me. I have a catering for yourself is so fatiguing and demoralizing. However your story gives me some hope to maybe bring it up again in the future should I have another episode.

Interesting. I had had mine tested as uti and it was never one. My uti pains are very distinctly different from my navel to urethra splitting pain. But I'm glad you got a result that worked for you.

I know this was wrote a year ago but I’m just going to reply now. I know what you are talking about with a UTI. But I’ve experienced the pain everyone has been talking about and this pain is not near as bad and the belly button pain caused by a UTI. The pain everyone else is talking about is more excruciating and it can even trigger it from coughing laughing sneezing or even taking too deep of a breath. Other days you can do all these things normally and nothing happens. It just happens very very randomly

Look up " Belly Button String Theory" there is a Reddit thread about it. Its not recognized by mainstream medicine but lots of ppl are plagued with this, often or occasionally. Part of what used to be the umbilical cord (connecting your bellybutton and groin/ urinary tract) becomes a ligament that runs from the inside of your belly button to your urinary tract and for whatever reason, strenuous activity, hunching over, the perfect combination of the two...ect, it can tighten up and cause sharp pain. Stretching it out (bending back and slowly pushing stomach out) can help, but first causes it to her more unill yoy stretch "through" it

Hello! I am one of the earlier posters on this forum. I suffered from the excruciating pain from around age 9 to age 32, until I finally had surgery to remove my urachal remnant. Six years post surgery, I can confirm I NEVER experienced the pain again and am 100% cured. Before, it was completely ruining my life. You can look up the Facebook page “urachal remnant” for more stories and support. If you are experiencing this, please go and see a specialist and look into getting the urachus surgically removed. I know countless people who have had the surgery and are not completely cured. There is hope!
