Okay, ever since i can remember i've had pain when i urinate. It's not the bad pain that we're talking about in this thread, but i'll get to that. I just recently went to a urologist about this problem because it's more of a burning pain when i urinate but it's definitely tolerable, after 17 years i've gotten used to it. Anyway the urologist looked at my bladder and said that i have the 'worlds smallest bladder' and said that it doesn't expand at all when relaxed under anastesia. I've started drinking a hell of a lot more water for about two days straight and i'm on my third day of drinking about 60-70 ounces a day. and just now when i went to the bathroom this bad pulling pain behind my bellybutton started and like others said it's like a line down to the clitoral area. for those saying it's because of dehydration, this only came about after i've been drinking a lot of water. i don't know if it's anything related to my recent visits to the urologist or because i have a really small bladder (which i'm going to therapy for tomorrow). anyway i just started on some bladder medication as well.

I have had this since I was a little child. I am now a 42 year old male. In recent times I found out what it is.
It is caused by a: Urachal Abnormality.
It is a left over by the connection from the unbilical cord to the bladder. It can and should be fixed.

My sister had this problem turns out her belly button didn't fully close when she was younger and at 18 she found out that it was a tumor on the inside of her belly button. And her belly button had ruptured like a hernia and the belly button opened and that was bad.

OH MY GOD - I don’t know who you are but just know I am hugging you right now with tears streaming down my face. This is no joke. I have had extreme pain in my bladder and urethra for over three weeks. Been to my doctor twice, went through two rounds of antibiotics (the last a very strong one with horrific side effects) and had convinced myself it was cystitis with no known cause or cure. I have just spent 30 minutes pulling my Weimaraners hair out of my tiny belly button and immediately felt relief. I know this probably isn’t the cause of most people reading this, but if you sleep with dogs you definitely need to check the ole button out. FYI I’m a clean freak so trust me this CAN happen to anyone

for anyone that sees this thread, i get this pain a lot too, in fact i was just having it tonight and it was steadily getting more severe hence me ending up here looking for answers!!

but i found something that might fix it, for me at least. i ate a couple tablespoons of baking soda and chugged some water, and the pain started going away. i had a coffee really late tonight and some chips before that (i don’t usually eat chips ever) so i was thinking maybe the pain was related to acidity or the junk food. the baking soda took like 5 mins to kick in and now i can move and flex my stomach without it feeling like there’s a string attaching my belly button to my vulva that someone pulled too tight!

tldr BAKING SODA!!! it helped me maybe it can help you too

This Pain in most of the cases on here is due to chronic appendicitis . I usually eat 3 crushed garlics on an empty stomach every morning and this keeps it from acting up. There are tons of other remedies if you dont like garlic . Also make sure your getting fats in your diet and staying away from junk , that tends to make it act up

If a urachal cyst is what it is than why would the pain come and than go when you give it rest , and leave sometimes for months ? Please explain , Im thing the chronic appendicitis seems more on the case , if your appendix flares it can mess with the bladder ?

I’m not the one who posted here but do agree it’s a urachal cyst. I had my entire urachus removed and problem is fixed. Urologist unclear why it comes and goes but thinks it’s either 1) fluid gets forced into cyst during straining and causes short sharp pain or 2) bladder spasms caused by dehydration or straining too pulls on cyst. Either case, he removed the whole thing and I haven’t had pain for months. I was having the exact pain as described here by many for years every 2-4 months.
