I have a lot of trouble getting shoes that fit me because my metatarsal bone on my right foot makes it longer than my left. As a result, almost every shoe that I put on makes it feel like my right foot is stepping on a bump right where my arch is. This makes buying a running shoe especially tricky, as I don't need any more discomfort than running can already cause.

I have worn out my old running shoes and need a new pair. Usually I prefer New Balance because they are wide soles and can do the trick. But everything I have tried on still pushes into my arch at least a little bit. I have tried the 760 stabailizers and I really really like them, save for a small (but still noticeable) bump. So I have some questions I'd like to pose:

1) does anyone else have something similar or know anybody who has? Beyond telling me my right foot is longer and suggesting some brands, my podiatrist has been little help.

2) can anybody recommend specific brands for me to try (hopefully nothing super-expensive, I don't want to pay more than $130 for a pair).

3) Might it be worth it to simply buy the New Balance 760s I mentioned? They're comfy in every other way, and probably better for me since they stabilize my running. Plus I rarely run more than 4 miles at a time, and perhaps as the shoes break in it will be less of a problem.

I'm in a bit of a dilemma; my old shoes are at the point where they hurt to run in; but I'm nervous to buy something that may not work for me. As a result I'm running less right now which stinks. Any suggestions? Thanks!!!
