Hi, im 13 and im 6'0' I was wondering if I should start lifting weights. I've seen other articles that how it could stunt growth and I am aware of that. I would keep in mind not to bench or leg press and rather stay with a more lighter set of weights for a long time. But are there any other risks? I mean I know that I could injure myself if I used that equipment wrong but already learned how to use them. I'm just wondering, are there other risks? Thank you :-D

Sounds like you've done some sensible research, though I have to wonder at how lifting weights is going to stunt your growth.

Were you proposing to squat under a lorry for a decade?

Quite bizarre, but you're not the first to mention it.

At your age and height, man has traditionally been out fighting lions. I'm sure you can handle a lump of iron or two.

Go for it, just as with anything else, in moderation.

Want to joint the marines for punishment, no problem.

For now, sensible and appropriate and you're unlikely to cause anyone, including yourself, any harm.

Yes it will affect your growth this is how, you are young and can still grow taller if you do weights your muscles will grow faster than your bones which will affect your height and will cause pain

Hi im 13 years old, 130 pounds, and 5'7. Ive been lifting weights for a few months and ive been comsitently growing in height. Ive gotten loads bigger and ive also grown to. This "stunting growth" thing is BS. If u dont injure your self, have good form, and do your max weight of 8-12 reps you should be fine.

I'm sorry but no, don't listen to the growth stunt thing. It's absolute BS. Exercising and lifting is easy, but since you are at a young age but your height is good. You can and you should lift, just not to heavy... As you grow up you can put more plates and more weight as you do so. Conclusion; it is good to exercise and lift but not heavy lifting.
