For the past seven months, I've been experiencing pain in the upper right quadrant of my abdomen. I have had several test run and no one has any idea what is causing it. I have lost 25 pounds in 14 weeks because of it. I have been prescribed Gabapentin for the pain. My doctor believes it could be my gallbladder or damage to the nerves to abdomen. He wants me to take Gabapentin for 3 weeks and if it doesn't work remove my gallbladder. My question is will gabapentin block the pain and it still be my gallbladder? I don't want to take it forever and if my gallbladder is bad I just want it removed so I don't have to take gabapentin forever. But at the same time if I some how I cause damage to the nerves in my abdomen and it is not my gallbladder- I don't want to removed. I can't lose anymore weight and the pain moderate to severe all the time getting worse after I eat. Which is why I avoid eating. I don't know what to do. I need help!
