i have a fibernoma. it is a lump in my breast. i only have it in one of my breast. its a tumor, but not cancer. the surgeon says its perfectly fine if i leave it in how it is, but it gets kind of annoying and around the time of my period, it is painful. has anyone had the surgery to get this removed? i am afraid of getting the surgery because i am afraid it will be painful and i am also afraid it will make that breast smaller, which it is already smaller than the other breast.
if you have or have had this, would you suggest getting it removed?
i am not asking for a dr opinion, because my dr already gave me his, i am just asking a personal opinion.
:-)

please help.

My Mom had one as does my sister. Mom had hers removed, as recommended by the doctor, but told sister not to do it because the pain att he time of the surgery resulting from the removal...and the lingering pain that she has from it, were worse than the occasional monthly pain she had while it was in place. Both of theirs were in upper left breast, like mine....though we're still determining what mine really is..biopsy in two weeks.

This is very much a personal choice and a choice I may also have to make in a few weeks. I suppose, considering the option myself, I'll asking myself the following questions in making that decision...

1) Would it bother my hubs if it stays and how be perceives me and our intimate time together?
2) For me, it's removal might actually make my breasts claose to the same size..my left is bigger, so is that important to me?
3) Could its staying prevent the mamogram from getting a good view of the other portions of my breast in the coming years?
4) My sister has to get ultrasound every year because mam can't see behind it. Could that cause me more time, money and aggravation in the future than it's worth?

Good luck and may you be happy with the decision you make.
