The groin is subject to sebaceous cysts... pimples, basically, but they can be deep and very painful. Vigorous washing with a washcloth during your shower can help keep the pores clear. Wash more gently if you are currently suffering from pain, but when your condition clears up, a good scrubbing will help prevent relapse.

You can also get ingrown hairs, that can be quite painful as well.

It is normal to have a variety of whitish bumps on the scrotum and base of penis. Don't "pop" these; it will hurt you and the broken skin is subject to infection.

Black bumps on the scrotum are not uncommon, varicose veins. Also do not pop these; they bleed for a long time, and are subject to repeated injury and further bleeding.

Bumps on the testicle itself (not on the scrotum itself) can be cancerous, but testicular cancer is fairly rare. Don't panic and confuse the epididymis with a cancer. The epididymis is a soft mass of tissue attached to the testicle. Testicular cancer is usually a firm lump attached to the testicle.

Your painful bumps will likely go away in 3-7 days, granted that you keep the area clean and otherwise leave the painful areas alone. Pinching an infected area can spread the infection! Your body should be able to heal itself, in most cases.

If it continues to bother you, see your doctor; he or she will not mind examining the area.

Good luck.

I realize this is an old thread but I am hopeful of gaining some helpful information to my symptom which I describe a bit differently than what I have read so far.  I'm not sure exactly how to describe it, but here goes:  In the area between my scrotum and my anus I recently have noticed a swollen, sore to touch elongated lump.  It's not a pimple, boil, or hemorhoid, (at least it is not an external symptom).  If I could further describe it, I'd say it is like a tendon about an inch or slightly longer, which is swollen and sore.  Since I first noticed it a couple weeks ago, it seems to have gotten bigger.......... Oh, I do suffer from a pretty bad case of hemorhoids.  These are external, very painful, and sometimes bloody........... Given those sysmtoms as described, I am at a loss as to what kind of medical specialist I should be talking to.  Does this fall in the realm of a Proctologist, or should I seek someone of different credentials?  Please advise.

Get it looked at, as you say it started on your penis then moved. It could be genital warts a for of STDs and it can be spread to others if you have close contact or sexual relations.

Go see a dermatologist and have him take a culture of the contents of the blisters bumps puss or whatever, it's most likely staph. Antibiotics will be needed if it is.

I know this is an old post but my fiancé has a similar bump; we noticed it a week ago and he is refusing to go to the dr but I am very concerned. Did you figure out what it was?

Mabe we all have something that aint named yet. I will be the first to call mine, Buttballpimpitus... lol. I have it too. The first one went away in a couple days. Then a different one popped up. I suggest a couple showers a day and shower after sex and work. This should be plenty to keep this irritation from coming back...
