I’m in this exact position. Had 5 teeth removed, smoked 36 hrs laters as the doc said to wait 24hrs. Now I have dry socket in 3 of the 5. Went back to a dentist and they said that I could have got it smoking or I could have got it from the surgery itself. Because the operation took two hours it’s possible they didn’t get a chance to clot. I’m on day 5 and really want a joint but so nervous I’ll make it worse. I’ve been on morphine, paracetamol and diplofenic (anti inflammatory) and the pain still comes back so flipping bad.

Dudes, I’ve had dry socket last year because of molar being pulled out. I smoked the same night and got dry socket for two weeks but bared if for 5 days because I didn’t know what it was. This time had my wisdom tooth out yesterday, left it 12 hours and packed the extraction site to smoke... the packing ended up pulling out the clot ffs. So went back to the dentist and got the dressing on it and the numbing paste. I haven’t had any pain at all yet, but I knew I had it so went straight to the dentist. I’m dying for a beer, or a joint. Anything. I’m unsure now because I have dry socket, so why can’t I smoke? Plus the dressing is packed in there so surely it will be ok...

You kids need some old school advice here.
In the 60s/70s we use to use what was called, powerhitters.
A powerhitter was a squeezable bottle with small hole on the side, to use a a carborator. The lid is designed with an opening in the middle, where the smoke, from the joint, comes through and is inhaled (through the mouth or nose)

I can concur that smoking weed with a dry socket is not recommended. Smoking can irritate the exposed bone and tissue of the dry socket, leading to increased pain and potentially delaying healing. Additionally, smoking can also introduce bacteria into the dry socket, increasing your risk of infection.

A friend of mine went through agony a while ago, so I know how painful it can be.

Take care, people.
