Taking a shower this morning I noticed a weird lump high on my inner thigh, near my groin. It is slightly ovoid, about a centimeter in diameter. It is a dark purple-red color, quite smooth (shines under light), and is somewhat hard to the touch. It does hurt, but only if pressure is applied directly to it.
What is this, and is it treatable/how so?
Hi I would say its either an growing hair or it could be a boil :-)
(can't edit anymore) Just thought to add this: it's raised roughly a millimeter or so, if that helps any.
Just saw this (you posted while I was adding that second post). Anyways, I've never had anything like this before. So how would I go about treating it? (Or is it one of those things that "go away on their own?")
Try putting a hot as you can bare wash cloth on it and keep it there for a couple minutes and it may bring it to a head.
If you go to Google images then search what does a boil look like you can see if it looks the same :-)
Thanks, that seems to have helped. It drained on its own a few minutes ago. I have no idea how long it was there, though, haha. Anything I should do now to keep it from getting infected or whatever?
Just try to keep it cleaned and bathed and use antiseptic on it if you can :-)
