Hi, folks. My friend suffers from severe depression and recently has experienced somatic depression syndrome. I would like to know something more about this. Is this usual for depression? Hello. People with depression can show somatic symptoms. The relation between these two entities is not linear. People with this depression can complain on many somatic symptoms. In many cases, these symptoms are the ones that make them go to a doctor. Chest pain is the one of the most common. Dizziness also can be caused of depression. Insomnia is another manifestation.
