Hello,
Was wondering if you could help. First I had my tonsil out 12 years ago. I started having a sore throat and noticed white spots on the top of my mouth and uvula last week. I saw the dr and he gave me the z-pack but didnt really say if it was strep or what. Now 2 days into the meds the swelling is going down and I have this icky white stuff all over the way back of my tongue. Kinda looks like hair!! EWW I'm able to scratch some of it away. Is this from Strep?

Hello there,

White spots and sore throat are sometimes symptoms of strep but not necessarily. Sometimes the crank sores or otherwise known as mouth ulcers are causing these symptoms. If you are getting better you should handle everything that is coming because with the right diagnosis your doctor has determined and the appropriate therapy you should be fine in no time.

Sometimes strep can have these symptoms so that in the future you know how to distinguish these symptoms from the others; throat pain, difficulty swallowing, swollen lymph nodes in your neck, fever, headache, rash and sometimes fatigue. So that white stuff is not from strep and you should concentrate on getting better and not trying to find another diagnosis.
