I have osteomyletis/staph aureus and am treated with vanc I.V. every 10 hours. This will be 3 weeks Oct. 6. I have three more weeks to go at least. What sort of Dr. specializes in this and what are some more aggressive, promising treatlments? It is in my left foot. I am 59 years old and have lupus(SLE), Heph C, asthma, mild COPD, arthritis, DJD, knees replaced, anemia, poor circulation in my feet, hypertension-treated, IBS, RLS, overactive bladder, depression, all treated.
I think you're looking for a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or D.O.
They are a fully licensed doctor but specialize in the musculoskeletal system. They tend to look at things from a "whole-body" approach.
Staph can be very tough to treat. Vancomycin is a very good antibiotic. Make sure you follow the dosage to the letter for best results.
Good luck and keep us posted.
