im 18 and i just started using birth control. i actually got YAZ through a dermatologist who said that taking it can help regulate hormones and help with acne, but she said i needed to go to a gyno to continue getting refills. im busy and about to go away to college so i havent yet had a gyno appt. she told me to start taking the first pill the day i started my period. i have been taking it on time every day for the past 10 days.. i had a normal period which last 5 days. then stopped over night up until about 6pm the next evening. for the past 5 days i have been having i guess spotting off and on, either red blood or brown. i was wondering if its normal and the cause is the birth control? i continue to have bad abdominal pains, not always cramps too. should i be concerned or wait out the pills and see if my body ajusts?
That IS normal.

When you first begin birth control, say the first month or TWO, you may some irregular bleeding, spotting, or even some cramping.

Yes, your body needs to adjust to the hormones. I do recommend a gyno appointment in the future, that way birth control can be continued, and you have someone to confide in.
