Hey all, I'm 21 and a junior in college so drinking is definitely a big part of my social life. My freshman and sophomore years I could drink and as long as I drank enough water or ate pizza it would help to neutralize the hangover and when I did get hungover it was just the normal kind where I had a bad headache and threw up maybe once or twice. This year however I have been having symptoms just like the ones many of you have been describing and I can't say enough how relieved I am to finally have some idea as to why drinking not even a large amount will have me throwing up (like an acidic yellow foam) every 20 minutes for up to 6 hours. And doing things like drinking water or eating bread/crackers (something that always used to help with normal hangovers) only makes it worse, it's like my stomach is so sensitive like when I have the stomach flu that I have to just wait it out or I immediately throw up whatever I put into my body which worries me about getting dehydrated. I always knew I had acid reflux because of my extremely bad allergies, whenever my allergies act up I get an over production of mucus which in turn results in the over production of acid which would totally explain the randomness of my abnormal hangover symptoms. I feel that I get these stomach flu like symptoms when hungover around the same time that my acid reflux and allergies are acting up, something I will definitely be bringing up with my allergist and general physician next time I see them. again I just wanted to thank everyone for their advice and am so happy to finally have some idea as to what is happening in my body!

I experience all these symptoms you do on occasion, but it only started when now that I am older. If I were you, it would not be worth it for you to drink AT ALL....EVER. You just have to go out with your friends and drink soda and if anyone asks you why you don't drink you tell them you are allergic to alcohol. The side effects you experience are too severe and not worth it at all for you to justify drinking any alcohol. The symptoms you have are absolute hell. I know, because I have experienced it at times. The next day I feel like a truck ran me over. Not worth it!!!! You can still have a good time not drinking when you go out. You just have to learn to do it and be comfortable with yourself.

Hi there. I have had the same issues ever since i started drinking. however my hangovers have gotten better over the years. I have always been a heavy drinker, started at age 12 and im now 29.

I noticed a few things over the years that has helped. Basically i do think that when this happens the body and mind is week and there is some sort of disturbence in the digestive system.

i first started managing the vomiting with drinking water with sugar. this procedure takes time. since i couldnt even keep water down i would sip the sugary water every 15 to 20 min while dozzing off and keeping it down and sleeping to my side so i wouldnt get motion sickness. this seemed to help but took time. lots of sleep when the vomiting stoped. next step try eating a little bit of toast with no butter, just plain and  more sleep. start drinking water slowyly every time you awaken. if this works then i could get up and manage some proteins and carbohidrates but nothing to greasy or fatty. by dinner time i would be up for watching somenthing if not to tired.

other things i did that helped was to try get a helthier body. i took some multi vitamins at some times but only twice a year. it also seemed to help having two pills of vitamins before drinking with food and water, and another two before going to bed again with food and water. during the whole night of drinking i would take care n drinking more water every time i remembered.

doing regular sports during the week also helped a lot. at least 45 min x3

when you drinking the alcohol drains our body from nutrients leaving the body weakend + alcohol is poison. alcohol also alternates state of mind by giving a high so naturaly threre will be a downer, this means if you emotionally unstable your hangover will be worse and the week after drinking you may have feelings of depression.

last of all i got mutch better after becoming a ginny pig for acupuncture pratice for the last 5 years. not only helped my hangover but all my organism changed and got better in so many other ways, especialy my womans cicles.

i would reckon to try getting looked up by a chinese medice doctor.

hope this information was usefull.

I really feel for everyone in this post. Honestly I have seen and helped through so many people in agony level hangovers but I don't seem to get them. At all. But apparently just my presence relieves the smyptoms. I'm starting to think my body is so good at digesting alcohol, that I can digest the sh*t in other people's bodies too, haha! Hope you all recover soon!

I'm 52 and have always felt horribly sick after a night of excess drinking, losing an entire day of my life horizontal the next day. I've come to realize the blessing in this. It's kept me from excessive drinking and the repercussions that could follow. No need for a doctor or putting additional pharmaceuticals chemicals into your body (as long as it's only with drinking). JUST DON'T DRINK IN EXCESS. Today I'm grateful. Be well and know yourself.

People with your symptoms may suffer from systemic candidiasis and can be cured with a very healthy diet. Google it and learn so that you don't suffer with it all your life like I have. (You might discover a hidden addiction to sugar or carbs which is what the over proliferated yeast force you to consume by messing with your bodies chemicals and hormones without you knowing it) God luck

It's so good to know there are fellow sufferers out there. I don't know anyone who has these horrible 6-10 hour vom sessions. Last night I drank 4 glasses of wine and 2 pints of water before getting home and drinking another pint of water just after midnight. Vomiting and diarrhoea for 6 hours today! There's no pattern much the same as most of your comments here. I can usually drink 4 glasses of wine no problem. I wondered if any women find it is worse at a certain time of the month as this seems to be the only pattern I can think of? I have to completely write the next day off after a drink just incase I get this ill, but sometimes I will be absolutely fine, no headache, nothing. So strange. I will try some of the advice and definitely speak to my doctor. It's debilitating.

wow. Im not alone on this. my mother and sister also suffer from the same thing... after a few drinks, the next morning we have extreme nausea, hours of vomiting, pounding headache, body aches, dizziness. totally debilitating the next day. does it run in your families as well? I guess I'll try the zantac idea before and after drinking. has this actually worked for anyone? the most difficult thing is that i can have two domestic beers and this can happen. or i can drink like a college student and feel fine. its like russian roulette with alcohol. If anyone has any suggestions please reply. besides stop drinking.

Like everyone else I get these extreme sickness hangovers where no meds- painkillers, beta blockers, antacids- will help, no rhyme or reason why sometimes I get them and other times I'm fine, I hadn't met anyone else who gets them like this. Yes it's horrid but it is self-inflicted and I'm not gonna sit here moaning about how hard it is to live with and that doctors need to research what why how etc, when there are far more important things to spend research money on. if it's that bad that you feel you pulled a short straw and are somehow disadvantaged in life, don't drink.

Weird. I can sh*t thru screen door everyday. Destin for my acid ass. Bland food and broth helps me . I do add lime, salt to my drink. Any others. Acid sucks.
