Here is the Answer for Everyone who is having this problem. STOP BREATHING, but not entirely, just take slow breaths through the nose, exhale through the mouth .. sip some water , and lay in bed for a few minutes. it will make you feel weird, dizzy, but it will calm down soon after doing this. do this right before bed, you will wake up and feel better, however you might notice it coming back. In my opinion it is a a lot of stress and anxiety, but mainly it is HYPERVENTILATION DISORDER. And yes it is probably mixed with an ulcer or

Did the issue get solved? I am having similar problems for the last couple of months. Can you please tell me a bit about the treatment? Which practitioner did you go to.

Thank you?

Everybody listen. all of these problems could very well be lack of stomach acid. Try taking a tsp/tbl spoon of apple cider vinegar with every meal. Or try HCL supplements. Also take digestive enzymes as well. Another thing is your stomach can't produce enough acid with out enough salt. try eating a low sodium pickle. All of these worked for me.

I use herbs to keep calm, no side effects. VALARIAN extract. I put valarian on top of my tongue, acts quick, half an eye dropper. Go to a Vitamin Shoppe site or herb site a read first, then you can decide. The Herbalist is good also. Plain old Dole's Pineapple juice , just a couple of big sips, try a straw easier to drink with straw, brings up my belches of air up pretty fast, stand up lean over a counter or a bed. When you breathe, breathe through your nose, out your mouth. Or just stand up if you can, sitting is bad. I use Siddha Sea Salts for my nose and chest congestion, just a few sprays under your tongue and it melts even sticky mucous pretty fast from head and chest. If you are not allergic to herbs it works fast. Test in small quantities to see if you are allergic first. This is what gets me through a day.

I don't know if you are still having problems or not since this is a year too late. What did they do to say you have asthma? Also what did they give you as an inhaler?

I have the same issues as described, but I have one thing no one has mentioned: vocal chord dysfunction. Due to damage from acid reflux, my vocal chords are damaged. Instead of opening when I take a breath in or out they clamp shut. I frequently have labored breathing when walking because I HAVE to force air through my mouth. Whenever I eat, the acid reflux causes an almost immediate sensation of not being able to breathe. If I am still (not walking around) for about 20 minutes after eating it will subside and I can breathe normally again. I didn't know about Vocal Chord Dysfunction (VCD) until I went to an Allergy clinic and they did a computerized spirometer (sp?) test on me.

VCD mimics asthma. Many people are prescribed asthma medications without any relief because it's not a lung issue - it's vocal chords. By the way = MOST doctors have never heard of it before. You may have to educate them. Good luck.

Hey, I didn't read through this whole thing. But it seems like what I read, people are all worried about it and that's causing anxiety. I've had similar symptoms. I think that it's a cycle. It's like you get stressed, then get these body symptoms which makes you more stressed, which makes the symptoms worse. I've dealt with anxiety really bad and have had tons of symptoms and weird feelings and feels like it's hard to breathe or I'm not sure if I'm breathing in or out and having horrible stomach pain. Lots of other things too related to dizzyness and trouble sleeping, my body feeling just weird. Anyways, just to let you know I went from not being able to drive or leave my house to now I'm working, finishing school, can hang out with friends without worrying about it. And sure there's times when I get anxious, but I'm able to calm myself down pretty quickly now. I've done a lot of different things some worked, some didn't. But just know, you're still alive, you're still breathing. The thing that helped me was meeting with a counselor/life coach and also going through these cds for anxiety and panic attacks. Lucinda Bassett is the ladies name and I think it's called attacking anxiety and depression. It takes time and work, but I really feel way better and now I have skills to calm myself down when I start getting stressed or anxious. Just came across this and wanted to help give some people peace of mind and maybe help people take a step in a direction to become less anxious and able to feel peace. Hope this helps, even if it's just one person :)

Im experiencing the same issues and its hell feeling like i cant breathe and doctors would just say its anxiety. It makes it hard to breathe.. then my body gets limp and heavy and then i have a panic attack. But im looking into the things i said above and i think healing the digestive system is the answer.

OK. There are multiple problems and answers here. These symptoms cannot be generalized and placed into "this is what it is". These problems (symptoms) are like complex equations with multiple answers. You need to break it down and figure it out for yourselves. Your doctors are NOT gonna do it for you. Here are SOME of the causes (diagnosis) from everyone's responses. 1. PTSD, 2. Anxiety (how many were once on Benzo meds and stopped? 3. These are PAWS symptoms. 4. Next, one poster wrote described a specific carbohydrate diet/anti-candida diet. If you have been having strange rashes, pimples, allergies, gas, bloating etc. Candida Albicans may be the cause. 5. Hyperventilation syndrome, thus can be caused by any of the above, or spleenomegaly, or are you over weight and you are breathing poorly by sucking in your gut? Is the cartridge connecting your ribs to your sternum inflamed? Are you have spleenic flexure and trapping gas due to IBS. Is the IBS from candida? Or PTSD? Or??? These are many other possibilities here. You need to break it down and figure it out. I truly think the answer is 2 or more of the above happening simultaneously. I was assaulted at work and needed a back surgery. Post surgery I has pneumonia and was bed bound fir weeks. The pain was so severe. I was on Valium, oxycodone, oxycontin and others for 8 months. During this time I gained weight and started to have weird allergies. Post surgery I was diagnosed with failed back syndrome, pneumonia, candida, hyperventilation syndrome, was overdosed by pharmacy giving 6 times the prescribed oxycodone dosage (DEA has investigated), i over came the narcotics and quit cold turkey, same with the valium. I have been tild I am suffering PTSD, told I have mild spleenomegaly from cavity pressure. Disagnosed with IBS, told to stop taking PPI (protonix) because multiple upper scopes show Zero acid reflux. Told my pleural space is infected. I am currently fighting candida once again. This was caused by steroid injections along with antibiotics for the pneumonia. Point is this. My above journey has been 1 year if pure hell. I have no clue what is truly causing mine or any of our problems, but sadly neither do our doctors. Some responses are easier to figure out than others. Try to break it down slowly and figure it out.

I too had stomach tightness and was finding difficulty to breathe.consulted multiple doctors, issue was not solved. Finally met a doctor and he identified it as SERETONIN imbalance. He prescribed me 2 tablets SERENACE 0.25mg and CIPLAR LA 40mg, i was worried that both are not related to stomach but how come it is going to solve my stomach problem. before starting this i had stomach fullness and anxeity attack for every week. after taking the tablet it reduced to 2 attacks per month and then it slowly came down to 1 per month and then it is rarely 1 in 3/4 months. After going through lots of documents understood it is because of stress stomach is getting affected. many doctors are not aware of this approach and im thankful to the doctor. May be you could discuss with your doctor regarding this approach. Finally my suggestion is to discuss with your practitioner regarding this STRESS/TENSION. i was told to take this tablet for next 3 years and slowly he has reduced serenace tablet from daily to alternate days now.Im also facing problems like food allergies to MILK, SOUR taste foods like CITRUS fruits, tamarind, curd, yeast related items like cakes, vinegar. Im currently avoiding these items. May be this will be helpful to discuss with your practitioner. all the best
