Hi Everyone .. I am also going through the same thing, I know I have GAD and what normally happens is that after getting an anxiety attack i then
experience chest pains, shortness of breath and most of the symptoms everyone has mentioned. My line of work also requires me to be in front of the computer the whole day and sitting down does make it worse, alcohol, tea and coffee are the worse. I have seen different doctors for this and they have all dismissed me... all I have observed about this is that it doesn't really kill people but it gets one to live a miserable life..fearing the worse that could possibly happen. Working out and being out doors or in an environment that is appealing to you helps a lot.

Hello everyone, I to have been dealing with these issues, and have suffered for years with this. To make a long story short and I want to tell you to look into candida. So many people are suffering from this. Most doctors will not even mention this as a possibility. Do resreach online and you will see that most is not all these symptoms are from candida. Hi,
Last week I suddenly couldn't fulfill a breath. It was terrifying. I went to the ER and they couldn't tell me what it was. They took xrays, drew blood, and did several other tests. I was sent on my way with an inhaler and the advice to take Ibuprofen. After 3 more days with no improvement, all I could think was that this is the beginning of COPD and I was basically preparing for my life to be over. I was a smoker in my early 20's then quit for several years and have been smoking on and off for a few years. Recently I've only been smoking while on vacation, so it's pretty infrequent but that can't erase the damage from the years past. I'm definitely someone who will google my issues incessantly to find all possible explanations. I immediately started drinking warm lemon water and homemade turmeric and ginger tea. I am vegan at home, but vegetarian while on vacation and had recently had quite a bit of dairy. I immediately made the decision to stop this habit. Then I saw that tight diaphragm muscles can seriously hinder deep breathing. They said that severe stress can induce this tightness. I then realized that my symptoms showed up the day after I had a deep tissue sports massage. It was super painful and it was a LOT of stress on my body, maybe there was no relation but this made sense to me and I was ready to try anything. I looked up some youtube videos on how to stretch your diaphragm (basically push your fingers up under your ribcage and gently pull while taking deep breaths). I felt relief pretty quickly after this. It wasn't 100%, but if I forced a really deep breath, I could almost take a satisfying breath. I kept repeating this stretch. The next morning I was about 25% better...kept doing the stretches. Today i'm about 75% better. I'm not making crazy claims, but it seems to be helping. I'm thinking more and more that it's not COPD, but you can believe that I will never smoke again. To go from never having to think about taking a breath and then having to think about it every second of the day was too scary for me. I am hopeful now that this will go away, but this was the scare that I needed.

I am 51, male , in shape. I started developing this problem about 3 years ago. Sort of a frantic feeling to where I almost used to call 911. At first I thought it was possibly an ulcer. There is a feeling of pressure from my stomach against my heart and lungs. Or so it feels like. I'd read a million Forum posts with a million different people and suggestions. What helped me the most was realizing that it was a mild form of hyperventilation. This is not doctor diagnosed I warn you.... I also believe it is partly a " hiatal hernia"where the top of the stomach is coming through the diaphragm muscle or something like that. Creating pressure in the whole chest lungs heart area. Again not doctor diagnosed.
But, through managing it as hyperventilation prevention and relaxation techniques for the Solar Plexus I can always slow it or stop it from happening when I'm in situations where it feel like it could come up or situations where it used to come up.

Again, not doctor recommended or diagnosed....

These are my techniques.
For hyperventilation prevention: slow single breath in through the nose , three breaths out through the mouth slow . On the nose inhale, use your diapraghm, breath with the stomach. Not rising of the chest. After about five sets of these, I find I can take a satisfying inhale it feels like my lungs are properly filled. Or sometimes I need to do it half the day.

As for the tightness of the solar plexus, which also gives me the anxiety and the fear and the breathing problems all wrapped into one gnarly bundle... I studied pressure points and reflexology. Whether you believe it or not for me personally the pressure point for the relaxation of the solar plexus totally totally works. On my body. The point is in the palm , just below the middle finger joint with the hand. Massaging pressing and thinking about the relaxing of the solar plexus.

Both of these techniques now are second nature and they come up every couple days or so. But also sometimes over a week before they become necessary.
One major thing is for me I must absolutely must wait at least 4 hours after eating to do any kind of exercise. If I mess that up ,the breathing Panic problem comes very quickly.

Just my experience, good luck.

Wow I am stunned to see so many people able to put into words what I am experiencing. I have a hard time breathing and often feel like I'm dying. It makes me want to be alone and fall asleep. I'm afraid. And I was wondering, have any of you all experienced traumas in your lives?

Hi,
My line of work is same as you in front of computer and i too faced the same issue for past 4 years. consulted multiple doctors and did not get cured but Now im releived up to 75% and thanks to head gastro doctor in famous "fortis malar hospital", chennai city india.
Let me explain you the reason-due to stress and late night work. This causes chemical seretonin imbalance in stomach. it is 10% in brain and remaining 90% in stomach. for the chemical imablance serenace was prescribed and too in low dosage of 0.25mg and i used it for long term of 2 years and no side effects. you can also use this as reference and speak to your nearby gastro doctor about this medication and proceed with his permission.

The doctor prescribed me tablet: SERENACE 0.25mg and CIPLAR LA 40mg. this worked out well and slowly the symptoms reduced. i followed these
** only hot water no cold water strictly
** avoid milk and milk products if u still need it use milk powder as it is lactose free
** avoid food items with green chillies and vinegar based items
** eat before 7-8 pm and wait for 2-3 hrs and then goto sleep
** sleep to you left side

As per my understanding, shortness of breadth happens when our stomach becomes allergic to foods and starts build up of gas in stomach. as gas increases it pushes heart and lungs giving the little space hence we are facing this shortness of breadth.
Temporary herbal remedy used by me:
** powdered coriander seeds powder [quarter teaspoon]
** cummin seeds powder [quarter teaspoon]
** asafoetida powder [pinch, this is more important which gives most needed relief. you can add little bit more if needed but not too much]
** salt [pinch]
** mix all and drink with bearable HOT water. within 10 mins will resolve problem.

hope this helps
