Hi, sorry to bother you. I'm having exactly the same symptoms and I was wondering if you ever got to the root of yours and if so did it resolve?

I hate that people chalk it up to anxiety and stress. I know it's not the cause in my case. Stress does male it worse, but managing stress only prevents it from *getting worse* It doesn't stop this unbearable and downright cruel pain.
And to nail it, these issues cause poor posture, only making the thing worse and adding back and neck and eyes--yes!--issues. At this point, all the doctors will think it's anxiety because they're so quick to identify any tightness as just that: anxiety.
But correcting the posture only sends me back in the pain, because then I'm standing up straight and breathing correctly, WHICH PUTS PRESSURE ON THE PART OF THE STOMACH THAT HURTS. That sends me into a bout of bile reflux and nausea.
No matter what I tell them, doctors do not want to hold this belief that I have anxiety--and that it's causing it--in suspension just for one second.
And I have to sit around at home and watch my young years--I'm only 20--pass by. Trying one anxiolityc after another, upping the dose, decreasing it, going to therapy to address issues I don't f#cking have.
I'm trying my best to not slide into depression, but the anger at not doing anything everyday , is getting hard to control.

To this poster (and all), over the past 4 years I've learned alot. Anxiety generally isn't the cause actually. You can have a lot of physical things happenning in the background that are near undetectable that cause the feelings of anxiety.
I thought I was having panick attacks, couldn't breath, often couldn't swallow, do yawn, burp, too much, etc. I had my blood tested umpteen times, tried supplements, sleep aids, allergy tests...nothing. Stress, right?
I finally had an allergic reaction to a flu shot for somebody to try benadryl on me. Turns out that my body just overreacts to things with allergic type responses, and yes, food, and lifestyle can impact it. Look up histamine intolerance for anybody reading this.
Acidic foods, sugars, wheat and alcohol can all cause excessive bloating and issues with digestion. Carbonated beverages, too much coffee, even too much fruit can cause it. Over the years, too many antibiotics and too many medications can affect your stomach lining, bacteria and ability to digest. The stomach is oddly the main hub of a lot of what happens to us physically - it is where there is a major artery, major nerve system, acid reflux (particularly at night) can affect breathing, chest and throat, and how your body allocates nutrients is here too.
These things can absolutely push on your diaphragm and lungs. I also discovered I was having excessive asthma-type responses to toothpaste of all things, and have since been diagnosed with asthma. Also discovered that between a desk job, old sports injury, and these inflammatory responses I was causing chronic inflammation to my neck / shoulders causing muscle damage and eventually created major nerve problems cutting off circulation, it's called neuroplaxia. You can also get migraines outside of your head - in your shoulders / neck, etc. All these things together run you down, cause you not to sleep. The more you don't sleep, the more you feel allergy type responses, the more you can't breathe, the crazier you feel - it's this terrible cycle. eventually your body shuts down and goes into gasto issues, I have wound up in hospital twice with gastritis and candida issues, and (hint to everyone), excessive candida also causes asthma response.
So, happy to say that years later, it's controllable. Physio stretches, occasional muscle relaxants, L Glutamine, vitamin D, puffers, nigella sativa seeds, natural peanut butter, etc, understanding that lack of sleep, certain foods and certain weather can set the breathing off and watching what I eat (also using tooth powder - toothpaste is terrible for you as it turns out!), those feelings of anxiety lessen greatly, as does the stomach problems, gallbladder pain, chest tightness, even muscle pain.
For those of you young, get ahead of it now - food trial and start to really pay attention to when this happens - is it after you drink a beer, is it after you spray on your perfume, could you be reacting to the bread you are eating, etc. Do you find that it gets worse in really hot or really cold, really humid or really dry weather, are there certain triggers that cause you to hold your breath? Of course, like everything, stress makes it worse, but I finally knew it wasn't when I lost feeling in my extremities and fainted while playing Tetris, ya know? This young lady is right, the more you tell yourself you may be crazy, the more you feel crazy. I actually cried tears of relief when I was diagnosed with neuroplaxia and rotator cuff limitations.
My doctor told me she had never seen such a difference in a person in only 3 months when I started food trialling. She said that it gave her hope to encourage young women to try to understand their body and surroundings more instead of just going on medication. And I'm happy to say when I eat better I feel less despression too. It's not perfect, you really have to stay on top of it if your body overreacts. But, look up histamine reaction and candida overgrowth and see if you are a candidate!

Soy doesn't help me, I stick to non-sweetened almond milk. Soy actually tends to create excess histamine in anybody with this issue.

OK Guys, I'm gonna tell you the single thing that helps me. Go to youtube, search Elliott Hulse's channel and find the "truth about deep breathing video". There he explains a lot about muscular tension and how to release it

You are the first person that has described my symptoms precisely, "like a tight girdle" that restricts my breathing, particularly just below my breastbone. It's a miserable feeling especially when it's accompanied by bloating. I can't seem to ID exactly when it's worst, but i know that it I don't eat for a long time, it's better. I have a history of anxiety and my job requires heaving lifting at times. I am also a little overweight. I too, pray and trust in God!

in my case it is GERD that causes my bloating and tight stomach and the sensation of "I feel like I can't breath ". then panic attacks..
these is how i get rid of it.
1. If I feel bloating I drink soda or any acid. Sounds crazy right? But bloating is cause by indigestion because there is no enough acid to digest that my lead to breathing difficulty.
2. remember it is like whos comes first chicken or egg?
thats it when you have GERD it causes anxiety then symptoms will follow.. or if you have ANXIETY or STRESS it causes increase of acid production then end up with indestion then go to number 1. see?
3. The more you think that you cant breath the more it worsen the feelings. Inject your mind with positive thoughts. because if you have GERD it causes stress or anxiety or (vice versa) STRESS AND ANXIETY causes GERD then lead to depression then you will not stop worrying on how to get rid of your struggle.
4. Unwind your stress. Find ways to handle stress. Go nature. Hang out.
5. Meditation. Meditation. Meditation, you can have Yoga, Exercises, deep breathing exercise, Music and let go of the negative thoughts you have.
6. The more you think you are sick the more your anxiety get worsen. So live like a normal. stop worrying.. wear your smile..
7. Pray.
