Hi, I am a thirty two years old man. I have been having some seizure disorders. After seeing a doctor, a therapy has been made. The doctor prescribed KLONIPIN. The drug helped me a lot. I kept with prescribed dosage. Since the seizure symptoms were not present any more I completely stopped taking KLONIPIN. Now there is a problem. It seams that I am addicted to this drug and have to take it again. Can you help by explaining this to me?
Hi, klonipin is an anticonvulsant drug. These kinds of drugs are known to cause an addiction. Therefore, it is not unusual that klonipin makes you feel the way you do. Psychological and physical dependence is ordinary and can occur in period of two to four weeks. When you stop taking klonipin suddenly, like you did, psychological and physical withdrawl symptoms start appearing. That is why you must stop taking this drug gradually. Of course you will need to see a doctor. Talk to him about this problem that you are having. He will probably prescribe a weaker drug. Any way you do not need to worry too much, because the symptoms will go away one way or another.
