wow im so glad i decided to google my problem! About the same issues as everyone else: cant eat, cant sh*t, bloating, vomitting, much discomfort. After reading a few peoples solutions Ive decided ill go to the doctor or pharmacy today and get some enzymes and other things. Seeing as theres no real quick easy now fix i just had 2 little bongs and, what do you know, symptoms all but gone.
ill stop again tomorrow and try people suggestions and ill post back how they work. Thanks everyone on the forum!

Also very glad to find a forum talking about this problem. I'm a non-smoker for 5 weeks now, after smoking for 19 years and digestive problems started a couple of days in to quitting - and now have constant hard painful stomach bloating. Managed to stop constipation by drinking Fei Yan tea - its a well known chinese slimming tea, that my mum drinks for detoxing. I find one cup in the evenings helps bowel movement in the morning and its supposed to help with general bloating and digestion, but i'm still suffering from this so will also try the suggested solutions that people have recommended.
So far i've noted the following suggestions:
- Digestive enzymes, probiotics, apple cider vinegar, ginger tablets, nascent iodine, fennel!
Thanks everyone for the suggestions, hopefully something will work. Will post back what results i get.
If anyone tries the Fei Yan Tea, beware it can be quite potent, and alot of consumption can cause slight diarrhoea in some people. Also they sell it in chinese medicine shops, but is quite expensive, and is much cheaper online, don't go too cheap though as there is fake tea about.

Hey everyone. As a second time quitter, I'm two months in and dealing with this same issue. The last time, it went on for a year and never did go away. 9 months pregnant looking all the time, RANCID gas, constantly, abdominal pain..etc....you all know the deal. Anyhow...I'm using the NOW! Super Enzymes this time and it's working 100% for me. No bloating, no constipation, no gas and no pain. It's not quite like when I smoked by I'd say it's at 80%.
Try it. You won't be sorry.

You sound about the same as me...age wise, amount of time you smoked and amount of time you've quit. Have you found anything that has worked? I'm really looking for anything to help me with this! Anything has got to work!

Time is the answer. It takes time for your body to heal after quitting smoking. For me it's been 6 months now and I went through that for the first 4 or 5 months. I am feeling good now 80% of the time. there will be days where I will have shortness of breath but will not linger on for long. All this was due to high anxiety after quitting. Never realized how bad smoking was until after quitting and all these symptoms came up. Excercise eating healthy and taking vitamins really helped me. Drink a ton of water. I smoked for over 25 years 4 or 5 cigs a day but was enough to cause damage. In time it just gets better and better.

OMG!!!!! I look like I am 8 months pregnant! I quit 8 days ago, with the nicotine gum, I am so bloated and very uncomfortable in every way! I thought I was going nuts! I always drink 32 to 64 oz of water daily any way, however I drinking a lot more then ususal these days. I cannot stand how I am feeling! I just ordered some new natural products to help assist with this issue.... One being apple sider vinegar caps, along with a super b complex that according to my Dr, will assist in most if not all matters listed above. I am also taking a water pill and staying away from BAD carbs for the next 14 days to see if that helps to eliminate the bloating! I know I am not pregnant as I had a full hytoerctomy over 5 years year....If I am pregnant I will be so rich I can have a tummy tuck weekly for the rest of my life~LOL~. Thanks for not making me feel as crazy as I thought I was!!!!! I will keep you all posted as time progresses with the new supplements.... I refuse to smoke again so my rebellious side needs to get a grip! Take care my fellow bloaters! Just remember this too shall pass!

Well I feel much better today:) barley any bloat, I got some meds to relieve the pressure (with out being to discriptive) I am having a good day today.... got up, went to Mass, then to the gym then off to have a wonderful lunch with my Husband and Son who turned 30 today:) I am so glad I googled these symptoms that lead me to this site.... Between me and my husband we have 4 children and 4 grand children, wanting to grow old with and for them was my inspiration... along with the support of my husband as he was never a smoker...I would be devistated if he was the one who would wind up with a horrible issue from smoking due to second hand inhalation... I was only one in my immediate family who smoked, Other then my father who quit 2 days after my Son was born which will be 30 years for him on the 7th:) He has been a huge support to me as well!!!! I turned 49 ;last ,month started smoking when I was 22... Always said I would not be an old lady (at 50) with a cig hanging out of my mouth playing bingo!!!!! HAHAHA! 22 I thought 50 was old..... LOL!!!! Well I am here if any one needs to vent as I know you are here for me as well!!!!! Best of luck to all!!!! I am on day 9:) Take care!!!!

I stopped smoking 3 weeks ago and have noticed after the first week that i was bloated all the time and i thought it was the spicy food i had eaten and then i thought it was from tomato based products but not i know its from quiting smoking. I am currently using a vaporizer that is what has helped me put down the cigs. i think im going to try to take something for gas and bloating daily and see how that works for me.
