Omg so glad i found this site. I stopped smoking over 20 days ago due to being hospitalized. Still have cravings but no desire to go back and be on oxygen again. About five to ten days ago i woke up with what i thought was a bad stomach ache. Now i know theres something messed up in my tummy. I didn't know stopping smoking could do this. It hurts. This sucks bas. I won't go back to smoking tho so im glad for all im reading. Good luck to us all and greatjob to all those who stayed quit.

Did you find an answer ?? This happens to me too! I've tried to quit twice and each time I gained inches around my waist but didn't change my diet or routine at all. Once I smoke, it goes away. I'm trying to quit again and afraid it's starting again.

I too went back to cigarettes because of the bloat. It was so depressing especially after how hard it was to quit and how proud of my self I was. Smoking made everything back to normal, the bloat went away. However I felt so guilty that i have now quit a second time. The bloat is back but I keep telling my self that my kids don 'to care if my stomach is a bloated but they will care if I'm dead. Cigarettes kill people.! The first time I quit for 2 years after 20 years of smoking the bloat and gas was really bad. This time I have been smoke free for 6 weeks and it's back but not as bad as before . I think it takes time for your body to re-adjust. Digestive enzymes and fennel tea also help lots. And drink lots of water first thing in the morning. Stick with it! Don't let those nasty cigarettes win!!

I quit smoking October 1st 2014. Nine months of sheer HELL on my digestive system!! Just this month I finally am getting a handle on the bloating and colon issues. Probiotics low dose (3billion) green tea and lots of water (2liters a day). I'm on the road back. Unless you have quit smoking, no one can relate to the quitting experience but another quitter. Stick with it and find whats working for others and do a ten day challenge to see if it helps you. Everyone has to find their on nitch on this just like we had to find what helped us to quit. We are all here for one another. God bless you all on this journey.

My advise would be if you have made up your mind to quit smoke don't do it suddenly. If you are pack a day smoker and you suddenly quit smoking it will be hard to your body to adjust with this new change thus it result in stomach bloating and swelling in intestinal track. So to cease smoking do it slowly so you wont be dealing with this problem.

A simple remedy i hope it will work for everyone. All you have to do is drink warm water. Just as warm as for tea. You can drink atleast 4-5 times a day sip by sip. Do it for at least for a week.

I'm certain the bloat is due to bacteria wars in your abdomen. Have you tried addressing that ?
