I find it interesting that everyone experiences the same thing and some have mentioned it's due to nicotine withdrawal.... I quit smoking and switched to vaping, but am still experiencing the bloating and gas even though I'm still getting the nicotine

Thank you for adding that comment above. I was thinking the same thing. I have switched to electronic cigarettes a couple of years ago. I had the same issues with severe bloating and pain. Which makes me think that it is something else in the cigarettes and not the nicotine!

Good news is, it did finally stop. I think it took about a month. Another commenter had mentioned something about feeling that her digestive system was out of balance. That is how I felt as well. I finally found something that helped-over the counter -papaya enzyme. I kept it with me and took them every time I ate something. I think I still have some, because it stopped happening before I finished the bottle.

Like I said, it is temporary, so hang in there. I do believe it has more to so with the cigarettes than the nicotine. That is probably why we are not seeing this listed as a side effect of nicotine withdrawal. -my two cents

Withdrawal symptoms are common at the time of quitting smoking. If you have strong determination, you can handle it by yourself. But if you are facing serious health issues, then it's better to seek the help of any addiction treatment centers or other experts. I had been addicted to nicotine for more than 3 years and had tried my best to get rid of it, but I was not able to handle the withdrawal symptoms and attend rehab programs conducted by Canada alcohol and drug rehab programs in Calgary. Their techniques and treatment methods helped me to face the withdrawal symptoms. Now I'm enjoying my nicotine free life.

Thanks for the info! The probiotics and enzymes worked for me! My bloating was horrible, and cleared up in a few weeks.

I use the NOW brand Clinical GI Probiotic, Super Enzymes, and Betaine HCL. I didn't get results with drugstore brands - you get what you pay for. Also, staying away from grains/dairy has helped as well.

Thank you so much. I will try . I started smoking again because I couldn't stand it. My belly so fat. I also work out consistently, but big belly. When I started smoking again, belly was down. Wonder what is the connection? I though it was the nicotine patch. Hmm

It will be 4 years since I quit, the bloating lasted over a year for me. But taking probiotics, and prilosec hasnt helped ALOT. Dont give up!!

Its finally GONE. probiotics, Prilosec and NO SUGAR, DAIRY or bread, I walk 6 miles a day too and exercise.

I do a sea salt flush after I stop smoking and if the bloating comes back l do another one and that takes care of the bloating for me!
I would use good pink salt!

I quit smoking with chantix twice. The first time I used it I got the bloated feeling even after a full year off the cigs and the chantix. The bloated feeling never went away so I started smoking again and it went away. I tried the chantix a second time and the bloating came back. Had been off the chantix another year and was still bloated. Picked up smoking again to see if I'd get my hunger back and loose the bloat but didn't this time. I've not had a hungery feeling in 7 years and have been bloated as well. I've had the upper GI and the lower and the Dr can't find anything wrong.
I'm about to give up hope of getting rid of this bloat (my wife calls me fat even though I've explained many times) and feel hunger again.
