Try to look up seaweed detox wrap at your local salon. I quit smoking , got bloated , got a detox wrap and an hour later I was back to normal. I had put on about 10 lbs due to excessive eating and no exercise , but the detox took inches off , and at least my stomach was flat again.

Not so for everyone, my friend. My husband has loose motions and is regular every day even after stopping smoking and still has the severe bloating and discomfort. I am googling every option to try and find a solution to at least relieve the condition to some extent for him.

Glad to see this thread still going, I'm the one who posted about a month ago. I've been stopped smoking for 5 years and WAS BLOATED like a pregnant woman (I'm male, lol). The good news is since taking probiotics and enzymes digest I have not bloated once, I'm soooo happy I found this site, good luck to anyone who tries it.

I have quit smoking as well and also having problems with a distended stomach. I am now going on 7 months with out smoking and you are right about the digestive system bacuse no matter what I eat, it doesn't matter, my stomach gets big and I was 115 lbs and now weigh 130 lbs. I have been to my doctor and he tells me to eat smaller meals and chew about 50 times before I swollow my food and this still does not help. I am almost eating nothing and really can't take it any more. I have thought about going back to smoking but I have not and really don't want to.

Just wanted to say that I am experiencing the bloating too. I take magnesium oxide at night before bed to give me a bowel movement. Also, I am eating a vegan diet and trying to drink as much water as possible. I am going to try digestive enzymes and probiotics too. Good luck to everyone! Quitting is hard .

I forgot to mention that I also do a castor oil pack every night on my lower abdomin to reduce bloating. Basically I just slather on castor oil, cover it with a tower and put a heating pad on top for about thirty minutes. This helps some too.

Your story is the exact same thing that's happening to me! I quit smoking 4 months ago (April 2016) and was constipated at first, took Metamucil but didn't want to rely on that every day. I drink a lot of water and also exercise, although 3 or 4 times a week. I took my mother's advice and would drink a cup of hot water just before bed and that seemed to help with the constipation, so I was pretty much back to "normal" about a month later. At the 3 month mark (mid-July), I bloated like a balloon, yes, looked pregnant. Not possible, now 51 and went through the "change" and haven't had a cycle for a year, so considered "post menopause". With that bloating, I felt so full, gassy, and have been getting on and off diarrhea (IBS symptoms), in addition to feeling full after only eating a little and just overall feeling terrible. I don't do doctors, but finally went to urgent care and they ordered an ultrasound. Long story short, but results made them suspect ovarian cancer (solid mass on ovary), so immediate appointment was made with ob/gyn. He suspected fibroids and did the CA-125 (CA stands for cancer antigen) blood test (that can also determine whether there is a growing tumor, I think - this is all new to me). That was normal, so he ordered another ultrasound which confirmed the mass was a fibroid a little smaller than a golf ball with scattered smaller uterine fibroids. I haven't seen any relation between smoking and fibroids either but am so confused now. I know fibroids can cause bloating the the doctor told me that they are common in women my age. I only heard of them as a problem for women trying to get pregnant. I almost feel as though my food isn't digesting properly and if I have an empty stomach, it's not an issue but when I eat, I can be just miserable. I do not want to start smoking again. I know it's only been 4 months and I've come this far. A week after I quit I almost lost my father from cardiac arrest (he's much better now, thankfully) and didn't smoke, although I wanted to. Then all of these problems and the stress and worrying...I still didn't smoke. But if this is the way I'm going to be, I'm afraid this current situation will cause problem after problem and be more harmful to me than the smoking was. I was a light to moderate smoker, averaging about 5 - 6 a day (sometimes more, sometimes less), except Friday and Saturday nights when there is beer and other adult beverage drinking, then I might have 10 during an evening into the night when drinking. Drinking is how I started smoking to begin with. I ordered some digestive enzymes today so I'll give those a try. So glad to have found this site though.

I smoked for over 60 yrs. Have been so concerned about the bloat. Thanks for letting me know I am not alone. Not smoked for 10 months. Will not start again, however, I really hate this bloat.
