Try to cut your coffee consumption back to one or two a day and avoid other caffeine sources such as soft drinks. I find that Vitamin B 50 complex is good to alleviate stress. Learn to take a moment and breath when you feel anxious! Re the buzzing-it is a digestive imbalance in all likelihood. My Dr. prescribed Probiotic capsules- not the yogurt as it doesn't contain a high enough dose. I bought a generic brand of "Women's Complete Probiotic" with 5 billion active cells of probiotics, took one with every meal, and the buzzing disappeared altogether in a couple of days!

Hey i have the same problem and i too feel it when I'm sitting or lying down , the reason I'm so concerned about this is because mine is noisy and I'm pretty sure other people can hear it too , however i have realized that if i poop after it the noise it not there any more but i can still feel some vibrations but they too also stop after a little while . i guess it's just trapped air and gas

Hi everyone!

I'm pretty convinced this is a muscular issue. I started doing this exercise routine where at one point, you have to stand on your tip toes, lean forward holding onto a chair, then tighten from your calves to your butt. It's a super strong squeeze and hold for 30 seconds at a time and for 4 times. I've never had this problem before. I am consuming coffee lately, but no more than half to one cup a day so I highly doubt that is what's causing it.

Some people tense their anus when stressed, so it could be the cause for many of you. That or strenuous workouts. It is bothersome, but shouldn't really drive anyone crazy. Especially if you realize it's not a big deal and won't kill you. I'm sure it won't last. It is kind of like a twitch. I've had twitches in my eye lids that have lasted weeks. Now THAT can drive a person crazy : )

For the person that has noise from this; I'd not worry. I believe this is a spasm of the sphincter muscle. If you have gas, and the sphincter is in spasm, then it's more than likely just little bits of trapped gas escaping. Try not to obsess about this. Just try some relaxation techniques and breath deeply five or ten minutes. It's best to allow your body to fully relax when there are muscle spasms.

Good luck all!

So I hope my post is helpful. Ive been bothered with this same feeling for a week. It was/is driving me crazy. So much so I felt like breaking down yesterday. I tried adjusting my spine, prep h, motrin, massagea relaxing and stretching, water, cutting out coffee, exercise, no exercise. ...the list goes on. Nothing helped. Finally yesterday I quit drinking/eating dairy and bought some probiotics. Already today its better. Not gone, but better. My intestines are being cleaned out and not working as hard to do so. I truly think its an unhealthy digestive balance and they are overworking, hence causing the spasms. Hopefully this trend of the sensation ending will continue and I gave some of you help and ideas.

This just started for me this morning. It is exactly as described by most of the other posters, with the exception of the duration. mine is lasting for about 2-3 seconds and happens every minute to minute and a half. It isn't painful, just a mild distinct buzz in my anus. It feels to me like it is blood flow related. Sort of like a vessel is kinked or blocked and when enough pressure builds behind the blockage the blood shoots through making a buzzing sensation.

I am so glad I found this site. This has been going on for 48 hours and I thought I was having some sort of breakdown. My husband is looking at me like I've grown an extra head and he insists that it is worms because I work at an animal shelter (BTW, I checked....nothing). Any new thoughts on this? I really don't want to go to my GP because it sounds as if little has been discovered from others.

I am stressed out (incredibly so), recently started drinking coffee and I know that my diet is lacking in fiber. Things I can work on but if anyone has discovered anything more concrete it would be appreciated.

This was the only site I could find online that had anything related to what I'm feeling. I also have the same vibrations that everyone else is having. I noticed on Saturday and honestly I thought like a bug crawled up there and was fluttering around or something. I got a little freaked out.  I had been traveling for work and carrying around a couple heavy bags and driving for 4 hours at a time, so I'm wondering if I pulled something.  After I determined that it wasn't some sort of bug fluttering around (I know I laughed too), I started doing a little research.  I drink coffee but only a cup a day and that hasn't changed.  So I really don't think that is it.  To me it does feel like my phone is on vibrate in my back right pocket. I can't really feel it on my left side, just my right. Which is the side I was carrying my heavy bags.  It does not hurt or anything, so I think I will just continue to monitor it. It doesn't sound like anyone had any luck by going to the doctor, so I may wait a little bit before I try that.  Mine is a constant pulsating vibration, kind of like one of those massage chairs when its on that setting.  Its not loud or anything, but it is about 2 seconds long and every 6-8 seconds.  If anyone figures anything out, please keep us all posted!!

I am a mid-30's female with no stress, no anxiety, I don't drink caffeine (none, zero), I am a vegan, have at least one green juice (fruits and veggies) once a day.  This started happening to me a few weeks ago, but now is happening more frequently.  Unless we aren't drinking enough water, I don't know how it is diet-related.  It happens to me sitting and laying down.  The best remedy I can come up with is when it happens I tighten those muscles and the vibrations seem to stop.

How much sleep is everyone getting?  Could it be tight clothes?  I am really clueless on this one.

I've had this sensation too, I believe it stems from tightening the internal muscles above your anus, a lot of people do this because they either recently emptied their bowel and it is out of comfort (the tightening that is,) or, tightening due to having loose bowel movements and fear of dedicating oneself. Once this or these muscle(s) have been tightened, not being used under normal stress of tightness, they go through a state of shock where they expand and contract as an infant's facial muscles would twitch due to initial regular exercise.

I'm 34, female and just had my 5th child 10 weeks ago.  I used to drink 1 cup of half regular/half decaf of coffee daily(not during pregnancy but after) and have stopped about 4 days ago. I too have this pulsating feeling in my anus going on for about a week already. To me, it does not feel like a vibrating but more like a "pulse/heartbeat" sensation.  I was at my primary doc today for routine blood work and mentioned this and she thinks it's a "stress tic" down there?!?!  She did a rectal exam and ruled out hemis. My left eye has been twitching also for a few days and that's super annoying in addition to the butt twitch, I'm so uncomfortable I wish it would just all go away.  I have a screaming 2 month old and 4 other children plus hubby (who thinks nothing of my situation) plus our lil business that I run to deal with.  I also suffer from anxiety and LOADS of stress so after reading all these posts, I think I'm going to attribute this butt pulse annoyance to STRESS!!  If there's no clinical term for it and it seems like the majority of us sufferers are under some kind of stress, what else can it be?  I will post if something abnormal should show up in my blood work.  Good luck to all!

I'm the same person who wrote the last post. I was called in to discuss the results of my blood work and I have slightly elevated ALT (liver enzyme).  I have no idea if this has anything at all to do with the strange feeling in my butt but (lol) I have to repeat the test in 2 weeks time.. I'm curious to see if the levels go down and if this pulsating goes away around he same time?!? Who knows..

This is hilarious, I knew I could find others like me on the net. It's been 3 days I think. I did increase my coffee and it is now a very annoying feeling down there. I am 30 and female. Sheesh the quirks of the human body.
