Hello, My friend has been taking methadone for three years at 120 mg per day due to chronic pain. He lost his insurance in Feb 2009. It is now April and he has been cutting down. Now he is at his last few and at the beginning of withdrawals. The question is (and I don't want any pressure please), I have morphine 15mg, xanax, and neurontin. If I give him some will it help him get through these horrible withdrawals without destroying him? How much? He also has hypothyroidism and has none of it for months. He is 5'11" and 130lbs. Please help.
Morphine could help, but the chances of him getting hooked on that are high. Those drugs you listed above are incredibly unhealthy and could put him (and anyone else) at risk for cardiovascular diseases. Honestly, he's better off smoking pot. If all else fails, he should look into some kind of rehabilitation. Methadone is very similar to heroine and it's a tough (and serious) habit to kick.
