I have a 1cm mass on the stalk that connects the pituitary with the hypothalmus.  Neurosurgeon indicates that his team is in agreement that it is not cancer (the good news).  But, they will have to do a crainiotomy because they cant go through the nose based on where it is and also the Pituitray is good.  I have had no meaningful symptoms except some hormonal imbalances.  They want to remove since it is near the optic chaism.

Surgery is next week and I am trying to make the best of it and think positive for me but most importantly for my family.  Thank you all for posting it has been a great way to understand what I am in store for and that there is a community to talk to.  As you all know the surgeons and doctors are not always touchy feely and that is ok....

I also had a meningioma the size of a tennis ball removed through a craniotomy August 2014. I have felt very blessed that I had no real complications and had a great deal of support with my family and my work place...However this far past surgery I still get wore out and have not started back to exercising. my tumor was frontotemporal lobe and have not gotten used to the divits on my scalp from where the bone was cut and as per the doctor will never change, also muscle was cut that now has atrophied and leaves a large bump on the face at the cheekbone doctor says that wont change . either.I am again feeling blessed but have a little vanity about the side of my face where its slightly caved in...I often tell myself if this what I have to live with I can do it...but we all some level of vanity..I keep looking for places that we who have survived menigiomas and craniotomies can share our stories and help each others with continued survival...Does anyone know of places like that...Please share ....If you would like to start or have conversations with me please contact me ..Would so much love to hear from you....

Hi, l have just been diagnosed with a 4.5cm tumour, meningioma with a large attached cyst 6.5 m. It gas been growing since 2007 when it was first seen after suffering from meningitis Dec 2006. It was left then as thought too small to bother with at 1.6cm, l was supposed to have yearly scans but it never happened. A few weeks ago l had an MRI scan of my jaw as painful and clicking, and the radiologist said we may as well do ur annual rain scan while u r here. I was astounded to hear this but thought it best to see if tumour had grown and to my horror it had. I am due surgery as neurosurgery team say it is too big to leave now. My worry is what damage has been done to my brain in that there is a foreign body in my brain the size of an orange. Good luck to everyone who is suffering with a diagnosed brain tumour.

I had 2 craniotomy July 2015 and 7 months later, still dizzy, unstable walking, left sided weakness and ringing in ear. Have tumors in brain stem, pons and cerebellar. But are shrinking . Back at work part time, driving short distances, but mentally not the same hoping at 1 year mark everything will have recovered. Good luck everyone

Brain stem....hope he is okay. I understand they radiate but don't operate on that part of the brain, too risky. I have one there as well.

I had the same experience as you. My surgery was Dec 2nd. So,just 3 months post surgery. I went into my surgery with a good mind set. Being positive even tho not knowing the outcome. But Faith in God and a Very good outlook helps alot. Back to work full time and driving to work. Still have to have someone drive me out of town. Trying to figure out the sporadic numbness in my face and left foot. Menningioma was on right side. Finding Drs. That will listen to your concerns and symptoms was a challenge. My Nuerosurgeon and Hospital satff were the best!!!!
