Dealing with sunburnt, swollen hands. The curse of the ginger. I have some burning on my face (lack of reapplication there) but the back of my hands were a total lack of application to begin with because I'm an id**t. Luckily since I was whale watching on the pacific, it was cold and nothing else was really exposed so that's all that was burned. The swelling is bad - pitting! And if my hands are below my heart it is horrible pain.
When I'm not idiotic, I rely on mineral-based sunblocks, which I feel work better than the chemical based one for my ginger-pale skin. I feel deflecting rays entirely seems safer for me than trying to absorb it chemically. YMMV.

Friday afternoon I went to the beach for two hours, used sunscreen and still managed to burn my legs from the knees down. I put aloe on them that night. Tried black tea compresses. Took some tylenol. My legs were so swollen and I had cankles. Sunday I went to the store and got some solarcaine, spray lotion, and oatmeal bath packs. I took an oatmeal bath daily after that. It hurt to try to stand on my legs at all, but I managed. Tuesday I felt better, tried an Epsom salt soak after more googling and I feel like that made it worse! I couldn't walk at all after and was left scooting on my butt when I had to move around the house. I was miserable and thought about going to the ER. I called my doctor trying to see what I could do, they said it was the tissue under my skin that was swollen and causing the intense pressure and I just had to wait it out. Suggested using aloe, drinking more water, and a gatorade a day.
Finally it's Friday (a week later) and it still hurts, my blisters are going down in size, skin is starting to peel, but it's getting better. I can actually walk and not wait 15-30 mins of trying to dangle my feet to get them used to the pressure change. It hurts to stand in one place not moving. Hurts to not be on carpet. But I don't have to scoot on my butt so that's great.
I'll try to check back once I'm 100% but know that it's taken me a week to feel just semi decent again...
(Side note: I am pregnant, so I am much more limited on what I can do and take as well)

Any tips:? Hi. It's been 9 days since I had sunburn but I had used sunblock. I was treated 10 years ago with acute Lyme so since then I have had little sun exposure. The burn was light and since then, has peeled and tanned. My issue is my right ankle (both but much more sever in right) swells and becomes painful after being up on it. I was on holiday (California beach) so I was still active and pushed through each day for 5 days after. (Hollywood, Disneyland but stayed very active as not to disappoint the family ) but flew home on 6th day after which the pressure and tight quarters was prob the worst pain and swelling. The first 3-4 days I struggled to get up but once I got going it didn't hurt as much but the swelling increases throughout each day. I spent the next day with feet elevated on pillows and the redness/swelling finally went away. Each time I got up though, I knew it wasn't right yet, as the potential was still there. As I stated no redness or swelling now. The next day I went to work with intention of staying seated and leg elevated. Computers crashed and spent most of the day running around fixing the work issues. The swelling grew back around the ankles terribly and after 10 hours, when I got home, they reddish/almost purple color was back too. Thank goodness I only worked Friday so I have the weekend off again(2 more days). I have kept it elevated all night and the color is normal and swelling is gone again. If I start doing anything up, I can feel it will begin all over again. I am active and have a very stressful job with lots of responsibility so more time out is not easy. I am responsible for over 200 ppl and keeping them working in an extremely fast paced company. I need to heal and quick as I stated its been over 9 days since the burn trigger this and keeping up and rested is the only thing that helps but I can't lay around everyday either. I need to handle my responsibilities. What can I do. I'm not currently on meds and the Lyme has been dormant for a good 5 years but I know it is always part of me. I was treated with IV antibiotics (can't remember name) for 2 months. I had it about 4 years before properly treated. I had all the symptoms but little was really known until it came back 4 years later and took me down for a good 2 years. Not even sure if that plays any role. My hands and knuckles swelled so bad the looked like baseball mitts at the time. Anyway, is this a severe common occurrence and is there any thing I should be doing to speed up the process? I also have a very active husky that needs to be walked/run daily and I'm afraid if I take her, I will only aggravate. Will resting feel better a little each day? Or will this hurt/swell anytime I am up and generally how long? It looks awesome now it's up but this goes up and down depending how long I'm up on it? If I walk the dog a mile, will this just aggravate and prolong my recovery Any advice is appreciated

My boyfriend has a severe sunburn. His stomach, chest, shoulders, and upper back are completely fried. He has swelling on the lower right side of his stomach. We watched a video on YouTube about how to help heal a sunburn. We tried it and it seems to be helping him. The redness isn't gone but the sting is gone for the most part. He sat in the bath tub and I poured apple cider vinegar on his burn, then he let it soak in for 20 minutes, after that he showered and rinsed his body off, then we melted coconut oil and poured it all over his body....it helped take the sting away
