To the original poster, your post came up when I did a search on the internet for "low serotonin levels and abdominal pain" because after a long escalating bout with IBS-C and uterine/ovarian abnormalities causing severe abdominal pain, and then the onset of severe anxiety, weight gain, fatigue, sleep disturbances with anxiety attacks throughout the night, body aches, depression, migraine headaches, etc.......... I became distraught and asked my gynecologist to try me on Celexa, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). After about 3 weeks on Celexa, which can be obtained in generic form by prescription for a very low cost, I have my life back.
For the first time in months, I'm pain free. I'm sleeping better at night. My anxiety has decreased by about 75% and I think the remaining anxiety is a conditioned response to stress because I've been suffering with it for so long. Depression is dramatically improved. Appetite is under control with no desire to binge eat. I just started my period this week and I had almost no PMS symptoms - VERY unusual. Constipation has resolved. Abdominal bloating and the feeling of constant inflammation in my gut is gone.
Just a suggestion. Ask your doctor if an SSRI might be appropriate for you.

hey little lady....ask ur doc to start thyroxine supplementation and see if ur symptoms r subsiding
Regardin ur tender lymphnodes meet a general surgeon and see if a FNAC can be done...from ur history tuberculosis has to be ruled out and also a Xray of sinus would help in rulling out sinusitis...PCOD can be another possibility

Was searching the internet for symptoms from exposure to dust and came across this thread. The thread for LittreLady regarding Fibromyalgia . I have heard that a supplement called Reliv has helped victims of this disease. You have nothing to loose. Find a distributer in you area or call them. I just did a search and found then at ***edited by moderator*** web addresses not allowed. Beyond that, I wish you the best and pray you find an answer.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Lyme Disease. Please check out the Lyme Disease Association website, as well as the Healing Well website lyme section for information. Also the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society website (ILADS). What the CDC and Infectious Disease doctors say about lyme is not accurate so you owe it to yourself to be tested, via a Western Blot. Beside Lyme one tickbite can transmit many coinfections, including babesia, erlichliosis, bartonnella and mycoplasma. Lyme is a spirochete bacteria like syphilis and can cause neurological injury if left untreated. It can be misdiagnosed as CFS/Lupus/Fibromyalgia/MS/ALS/IBS/Chrons....do you homework and ask questions. Find a lyme-literate doctor. Also, gluten sensitivity is very common with lyme
I am 34years old mother of 2, and have been suffering from many of the same symptoms mentioned in this discussion! Its gone on for 8 months now, seen 4 doctors, an allergist, an ENT, 2 dentists, and An oral surgeon! So far I have received no diagnosis, many attempts to treat the symptoms (to no avail)! I am at my witts end and feel the MD's I've encountered have been negligent with my care, with a lack of concern for my well being! The ENT suggested that I would benefit from hypnotherapy and a xanax, as I seemed uptight! He also stated I seemed hypochondriac and may need to see a neurologist! My family doctor has asked me on two seperate visits if I am smoking ice! To which I replied "no sir I am not" he them looked up at me (wide eyed) and said "are you sure?" Wth? I looked him righT back in the eye and said frankly "yeah, I'm sure! I think I'd f#*@ing know"! I then went on to explain that I've never been so sick and had such a hard time getting help! To which he says "well, I don't think you're dying". And I replied " I have two young boys and am their only mother! For thei sack I sure hope you're right!". That was my last time I saw him and will not. Go back! My allergist seems to be the only professional who is taking this seriously and has ordered a series of Ige tests to rule out an auto immune disorder! The fatigue, muscle aches, and constant sore, sore throat with swollen tonsils and glands in neck are the worst part for me! My question to all who have posted here is this - have any of you been exposed to flooding in your home, water leaks, broken pipes etc. which lead to the growth of mold? Or perhaps live in an area where mold counts are unusually high? I am convinced this is what has triggered this mysterious illness as I hace done much research on the subject! I am not talking about an allergy to molds or fungus but a toxicity or poisoning! From what I've read MD's have not been trained in this area, also its common for those exposed to look perfectly healthy and for docs to assume they are "exaggerating or even imagining their symptoms"! If any have been exposed to mold/fungus at any level please post a reply as I am doing a survey of sorts in an attempt to make a connection? God bless TJ Hick
My mother went for 5 years with the Doctor's saying she had nothing wrong, and she had all the symptoms you had, plus her hair fell out.
It turned out she had had underactive thyroid and has been on medication for it for many years now.

To the post from early September, I'm sorry you've had to see some bad doctors. I know of an infectious disease doctor in Virginia who told his female patients they would feel better if they went home and satisfied their husbands. Some doctors, well, you wonder why they are doctors when they don't like patients! You owe it to yourself to keep looking and find a doctor who will run alot of tests. You have to walk away from the bad ones, as you've done, and keep looking for the good ones.
Re: biotoxin/mold illness, google Richie Shoemaker and biotoxin info and read about his work. Also google James L. Schaller, MD to read what he has to say about mold. I think alot of people have this problem. My kids have the genetic susceptibility so they probably got it from me.
My entire family has had lyme and coinfections, that's why I mentioned it earlier; however, I think there is not one simple answer to any of these medical diagnoses - lyme, fibro, CFS, biotoxin, it's all immune system related, and the causes, bacterial, viral, mold, etc. can cause long term inflammation and body systems become "out of whack." It takes a lot of approaches to get better, not just one. Diet is a big part of this - sugar is the enemy, it feeds infections, cancer. Thyroid, other endocrine abnormalities result as well. Many people can trace their health change to a flu-like illness from which they never recover. For me it was lyme.
Have a doctor test you for strep, mono (EBV), bartonella - there are many others that can cause long-term lymph swelling....
Also, see if an endocrinologist will test you for thyroid imbalances as previous poster suggested.
Keep searching, and continue to walk away from bad doctors. Make sure you post feedback on doctor review websites about those doctors so other patients can avoid them.

i've had similar symptoms described by various people here...I believe problem is or underlying cause is in the diet and mental appoach to life ... and yeast overgrowth or candida albicans which causes poor ability to absorb nutrients, weakens immune system and affects central nervous system ( hence depression, blury mind, lack of concentration, headaches, dizziness, irritability)....weakened digestive system ( bloating, cramps during menstrual period, bad digestion, bad breath) including liver and kidney are not functioning properly...which causes all the symptoms here described...please read book Healing with WHole foods ( I have one on my own and it's been VERY helpful) , change your diet, read about detox and cleansing, possibly to get red off candida albicans, get your colon cleansed (colon cleans hydrotherapy), start doing yoga and meditation....drink vegetable juices, plenty of water and if possible get at least 15 min of sunshine every day. If you're prone to get cold easily and you hate cold weather, invest in good winter warm clothes, have hot bath in the evening, and then use sesame oil to retain the heat...In the winter especially , eat warm vegetable soups and slow cooked stews, small fish like ( sardines), lean red meat, lots of saurkrauts ( fermented cabbage) which is an excellent source of vitamin C and as a bonus it's rich of digestive enzymes. Eat good quality organic goat milk yoghurt, buy some probiotics, restrain from coffee, alcohol, cigarettes, black tea..
drink plenty of water, herbal teas and vegetable juices.....drink water with lemon or apple cider vinegar which helps to alkalize your body...
I can guarantee you will feel energized and alive and healthy again....good luck!

hi there,
i finally feel like i've found people who have the same issues as i do!
i'm 27 years old - and in january, i started having stomach pains; a few days later, they turned into muscle aches everywhere. in weird places - like my calves and elbows.
i went to the doctor - they did all the blood work and what not.
i was diagnosed with having a viral illness.
after a few months, things didn't let up and i was having more symptoms - some numbness and tingling in my fingers/face, nausea, fatigue and still aches/pains, as well as chronic headaches, chest tightness, chest pains, severe sore throat. sometimes i just don't feel good at all. also, sometimes my left hand (mainly middle and ring finger) will be swollen and painful.
they did ecg, chest xrays, ultrasounds (abdominal and pelvic), sent me to a rheumatoid specialist, more bloodwork.
the symptoms keep persisting - although not as bad as in january, they kind of come and go; waxing and waning.
my doctor now thinks its fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome.
sometimes i find it hard to believe, as the symptoms just make me afraid that it is something serious. now it seems as though i'm getting anxious about it all, so that is manifesting my symptoms.
it is the most frustrating thing ever that i've had to deal with and i'm petrified that its going to continue forever and i'm not going to know how to cope.
if anyone has any coping techniques or ways to relieve some of the symptoms, please, let me know.
thanks!

Hi Guys, I have experienced similar symptoms and it seems to be from over work for me... I was working nearly 80 hours a week for the last 10 months, 7 days a week. I work 10 months on and two months off and now that I am on vacation, I am eating healthily, enjoying as much fresh air as possible, doing activities and hobbies I enjoy and getting regular Acupuncture treatments - acupuncture is a whole body approach to health and the Dr I am seeing has said that it looks like digestive problems brought on by stress that are causing my symptoms. Since I started seeing her, I already feel so much better and am enjoying my vacation immensely so I highly recommend it to anyone, they have a totally different way of diagnosing by reading your tongue and your pulse and they look at every symptom your experiencing... Hope this helps, just make sure the acupuncturist you see is licensed!!
Wow I can't believe so many people have the same symptoms I have. I have had throat infections for over 5 months, body aches and pains feels like flu every few days. Had medication 5 times, including one I was allergic to, seen 5 different doctors ENT and more. My doctor of 20 years said it was STREP , but two days after finishing meds, throats hurting again, swollen lymph nodes, red throat with body aches again. I am a healthy person, and now just sick of being sick. I have a 5 yr old who I can't play with half the time because of the extreme fatigue that also comes with whatever this illness is. I've barely been able to work I get so tired. Can't swallow, and talk is hard at times my throat hurts so much! My poor son can't understand why all of a sudden Mommy is sick all the time! Going back to doctors again next week because finished medication on Sat, by Monday this week throat hurting again! I hope someone can figure this out. Obviously we aren't ALL imagining what we are going through. Its not depression or anxiety but it is sure stressful to go through this. Thanks for listening...
I have had these symptoms on and off during the last 30 years. Usually a round or two of antibiotics will bring them under control until the next time. It seems that I use to get Mycroplasmic pneumonia (don't let the name deter you). It starts as aches and pains more severe in the joints. Fatigue will follow with something different hurting everyday. You will feel like a hypercondriac. Finally it will hit your lungs and it'll be hard to breath.(it could take 2-3 months maybe longer) A blood test will confirm this virus and you'll be amazed how well you will feel in about a week with getting some E-mycin into you.
Another thought too is....I never believed I was depressed but I agreed to a small dosage of Zoloft and it was amazing how I felt "alive" again. Not recommended if you pregnant or planning on getting pregnant...talk to your doctors.
Has any of you with the memory and "brain" issues been tested for Lymes? Been down that route too and believe me it's scarey how doctors treat this issue. I had an embedded piece of a dead tick in my shoulder for over 3 weeks and the first doctor said it wasn't a tick but a black head. I went home to only start to feel like something was "eating my brain" is how I related it to my husband. Went back to my regular doctor and he immediately sliced the area open, took the black spot out and looked at it under the microscope and found it to be parts of a tick. He came back stitched up the spot wrote a prescription for three weeks of some heavy duty antibiotic. He said he wasn't going to wait for the blood results for Lyme's disease.
I have a wonderful doctor who still works on common sense and not with what the insurance companies want or worries of being sued. I wish all of you could find such a doctor. It seems nobody can make a diagnosis unless they specialize in that particular pain.
So Young Ladies......continue on your search for what ails you and don't always believe the doctor. They DON'T know how you feel and can only go by tests and they're not God and able to perform miracles. ASK questions, write how you feel down and keep a journal so when you see the doctor you can remember your questions and be able to answer their questions a little bit better.

I have all the symptoms without the sore throat or glands. I was diagnosed with the Epstein-Barr Virus:in other words, Chronic mono. In my case, having had mono and chicken pox, the virus, due to constant trauma and stress, I have reoccurring symptoms. I spent 10 years on the sofa, almost debilitated completely. But stayed in forward motion raising my son as a single parent. I have weeks, even months of relief, and then it rears its ugly head again. Fibromyalgia is part of this, otherwise known as chronic fatigue. Im also a molest victim, and have been under extreme duress for a very lengthy time. I have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and take medication for it. I am having another round of symptoms right now and am suspecting thyroid probs possibly. Im 54 and post-menopause. Maybe hormonal stuff going on too. Rest is the best and exercise no matrer what it is helps tremendously! Ive also had Lymes disease twice, yes, twice! Some think its that. I just keep praying and seeing Drs.
