Thank you so much... I think I have figured out my problem. This weekend was the second time I have had an outbreak. Both times I woke up in the morning and my top left lip was swollen so bad. I mean I looked like a duck on one side. It was so bad it made my cheek and the side of my nose even swell. The first time I did not go to the doctor, because I thought something had bit me. This second time inwhich was little worse... Monday morning I went to my family doctor and he said that it was a sinus allergy and he wanted to see me back in two weeks for a check up. He gave me two perscriptions... a steroid and a sinus medication (I just started taking today, so no results yet). I left the office in somewhat of a doupt. I thought I would research it on my own before I went to a specialist. It is still some what swollen and it is Tuesday... I first noticed the swelling on Sunday morning. It is so embarrassing... I did not even go to church!!! ;-)... and when I read your post I realized it might be caused by a salad I had on Sat. night for dinner with some type of sun dried tomato vinegarette dressing. If you or anyone find more info let me know! email me at _[removed]_.... Thank you for your post!!!!!!!!!!

Some days my lip swells so much i cant leave the house and others its just minor. I have had a blood test done and Im not allergic to any of the main things. I have an app to see a specialist at the end of the month. Im gald i have found this post as i havn't found much other information. If anyone has any extra info or websites I can be refered to that would be great as i have a feeling the specialist wont find the problem. :-( %-) :-(

For about the last year and a half I have been expiencing swelling of one side of my lip, either the top or bottom. It usually subsides within 4 hours. This seems to happen at least once a month, sometimes twice. Once in a while I will get a swollen heel. I have brought this up to my doctor but he does not have an idea. I am going to try an allergist.

I too, am glad to find this problem being discussed. Currently my upper lip and left cheek are hideously swollen - space between my nose and chin having a huge surface area, much like Mr. Grinch's upper lip :-) I find neither Benadryl nor ice to have much of an effect and can't pinpoint the cause. The swelling usually resolves @24 hrs, sometimes more, sometimes less. Beginning last August with a swelling after a bee sting, I've had intermittent flare ups with my upper lip, tongue, cheek and eye. Through Google images I've seen this swelling attributed to Melkersson-Rosenthal Syndrome, along with related diagnoses/synonyms: Cheilitis Granulomatosa, Facial Neuropathy, Orofacial Edema / Granulomatous Cheilitis / Cheilitis Granulomatosa / Cheilitis Granulomatosa, Orofacial Edema, Facial Neuropathy
Also, this type of swelling can be a manifestation of Crohn's Disease. Does anyone else have a dry cough? It seems possible if this has a granulomatosa component, the lungs could also be attacked as in sarcoidosis. I don't want to take steroids and this seems to be the only route for MDs.

PLEASE, PLEASE!!!

If you have had the tingling sensation and then swollen lips, perhaps dryness, little blisters, ozzing or weeping, cracks on sides of mouth, lips biggger than Jolie's, and being so embarassed you don't want to leave home...I GET THIS TOO, and I am pretty sure of the reason.

I began getting this a little over a year ago and I am almost 100% sure it is a candida/yeast/sugar thing. When I feel the sensation coming I do the following, I IMMEADIATELY stop ALLLLL sugars, breads, yeast, in diet. Then I use Oregano Oil on my lips and drops under my tongue-It burns like hell, but makes t feel so much better. This does the trick. Actually just cutting the sugar/yeast from your diet will do it alone, but may take some time. You will loose some wieght too.

email me if you have this problem and want to talk:****

Hi,

I experience almost identical symptoms. My lips swell (always the bottom OR the top, never both and often either the left or the right side of the lip, never the entire lip). My feet swell too but it's always one or the other, never both.

The swelling is absolutely unbelievable, my lip looks completely abnormal, It's hard to find the courage to go outside and I know that's a terrible thing to say as people with far greater disfigurements do it everyday and their struggle is permanent.

I'd be really interested to hear from you Swell guy to find out if you've identified the cause.

That is exactly what happens to me. I call it my "Betty Boop" lip because the top middle part of my lip swells. This is only the 2nd time it's happened to me this year, though. The only common factor in each incident for me was that my cat was sleeping in my bed. But then, it doesn't seem like antihistamines help mine either. Do you have any pets that you could be allergic to? I doubt that it's cancer. It's gotta be an allergic reaction.

I am a 36 year old asian man. This symptom first hit me this January. Then it has been hitting me once every 10 days or so. The swelling usually starts with a small part (middle of the upper lip or either side of the month corners) being harden and then expand to the whole upper lip or lower lip. I have never known of any food that I am allergic to. Doctors say it is angioedema.

Just curious, for those of you who are suffering, have you guys been taking any medication or have your lips been always dry and cracking. I have not been taking any medication but my lips have always been dry and cracking.

If you are still having this symptom, pls contact me directly at ***

Hi suziqs - can you share what helped to fix your problem? Same as you, I suspect that the issue is Covergirl outlast lipcolor. The lips get itchy, chapped, crusty on the outsides and small beads of "sweat" - same as you mentioned.

Your response is very much appreciated - embarrased to go to work looking the way I do. I would like to know how you treated it and what lipcolor you now use. Thank you in advance!
