Hi there, hope you can help.
My friend is a 35 year old female with 2 children who keeps good health and is fit.
Everytime she drinks 2 or more drinks, she gets a paralysis of the face and finds it difficult to talk for about 30 to 60 seconds. We and she have just laughed this off for years always saying " oh year she has the mouth thing again".
I am actually getting a little concerned about this and have asked her continually to get it seen to but she wont!
I have tried to research it on the internet but cannot find anything that is similar.
I know about Bells Palsy and the like but it only happens when she drinks.
I know what you are thinking, tell her to stop drinking, but there must be a reason why it only happens when she does drink.
She carrys chewing gum in her bag for this and finds it seems to help when she chews somehing.
Any suggestions would be greatfully accepted other than to stop drinking alcohol as I believe it probably goes deeper than that
Cheers

Hi.
Huh, it can be serious. Is she sure that this is temporary paralysis? If she hasn't visited her doctor, how can she be sure about this?
She is dealing with a loss of facial movement due to some nerve damage, and that is why she needs to visit her doctor to see what this is all about. Her facial muscles may appear to drop or become weak for some reason. It can happen for both of faces sides, nothing strange. It can happen on one or both sides of the face.
Doctor should do some analyzes to determine the main cause of it. Some of them can be head trauma, stroke, or worse - head or neck tumor.

Hi, Strange one! She really should go see her doctor, it could be a nerve thing and nothing really to worry about, but I'd still encourage her to go get it checked out.
