My father emigrated to Canada from Egypt in 1967, at the age of 35. He was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at the age of 42. MS is virtually unheard of in Egypt. My brother, who was 10 at the time we all emigrated to Montreal, was diagnosed with MS at the age of 25. I (a woman) moved back to Egypt 20 years ago and today I have twin boys, 16 years old. They will be going to college next year, likely in Canada or the U.S. I am worried about sending them to North America given the antecedence of MS in the family and the prevalence of MS cases North of the equator. Are there tests available which could help us determine whether either of the boys is vulnerable to MS?
