Took 1 immodium all day, feel fine. I have no w/d type feelings at all. No cravings, nothing. HOPEfully this is the end of it. I too and coming down with cold which I don't care at this point. Opiate free is #1 goal. Tomorrow, not taking anything and see what happens. My Lord, I hope this is all over.

nah big a is right. even if you cant control it and keep a strict limit on pain pills, when youve been on suboxone for an extended period of time its easier to start it over. i was on 2mg-.5mg of sub, up and down for 2 years and could get down to .5mg but even after weeks of that i couldnt jump off without getting too sick and taking more or going out and getting high, and even with the film its hard to dose any thing smaller than that accurately. eventually i had a car accident and injured my back severely and got put on fentanyl and percocet. in 3 months i was out of control, shooting at least 160mgs of opana everyday and doing heroin when i could. needless to say spending hundreds of dollars to get by everyday gets old. i tapered on sub for 8 days and had practically no withdrawal symptoms other than feeling a little lazy. i had to start at 1/2 an 8mg, then 1/3, 1/4, then 1/8 for 2 days, then 1/16 for 3.

it sounds ridiculous to tell an addict to do this but IT IS EASIER. if you have the common sense to not OD going back to the good sh*t, its not a bad idea. its because of the long withdrawal that comes with suboxone. coming off of full agonists is a slightly more intense, but quicker withdrawal. when you take suboxone ONLY throughout the worst part of the withdrawal (2 weeks max, maybe 3 for heavy and i mean HEAVY users), your body wont get as dependent on it. suboxone maintenance might be right for some people but most dont know what theyre getting themselves into when they start it. my doctor thought i was taking 24mgs a day for those 2 years which is ridiculous. these doctors dont care as long as you pay them. nor do they understand what it feels like to withdrawal from the doses they prescribe.

im 23 and was physically dependent on opiates when i was 15, IV user by the time i was 16, not to mention all the other stimulants, benzos, or hallucinogens i spent years taking, shooting anything that would absorb in water. ive been completely clean, dont even drink, for a year and a half now after tapering the way i did, without wasting money on treatment. but to anyone who does it, i recommend going to narcotics anonymous and changing everything around you if you truly want to stay clean. any true addict cant do it alone forever. sooner or later your mind will take you back to the dope and it gets worse every time. im done preaching i suppose. good luck to anyone stuck in the sickness. ill pray for you all.

This is my second time on Suboxone. I took it the first time when it only came in pill form, and I would get down to literally one or two crumbs of the stuff, and I still could not make the jump. the withdrawal was just to intense. My doctor put me on Vic's 5mg to get me off, and that would have been a perfect way to get off all this stuff once and for all. However, my dumb-ass could not control how much I love pill and I just bailed this doc and went to pain magnt. to get the good stuff. I have severe RA so I can get pills easy, anyway I eventually got up to 300 mg of perc's a day with 2-3 40mg oxycontin. I was out of control, I went to a rehab that just gets you clean, using subutex and then suboxone. It was the worst experience of my life. The only saving grace was that I left the place 100^ clean. I feel like suboxone is a money making nitch for a lot of doc's. It' should only administered in long term use for patents who feel the are unable to ever stay clean, and they need that safety net where using is not an option. However doctors abuse it b/c they keep their patients on it as long as they want and then it becomes the same as any opiate. A ball and chain. I'm looking for advice. I'm on about 8mg sub's now that I've been on for a week so far. I went a day w/no sub during that week as well. I saw my dog today explaining how hard to jump of sub;s is, but he just disagreed with me saying that you can tapper down to as low a dose as you want , and get off at any time. He didn't seem to understand what I was telling him. I would love to just stop the sub's today (today is the first day of my second week) I just can't stand withdrawals. so my question is how to get off considering how short a time I've been on, and the fact that my doses have not been that high. I was thinking of just weaning down going really slow to almost nothing, and then getting some vic's to finish the process. Vic's work the best b/c they're the shortest acting. I've gone from percs down to vic's and then clean a number of times. ok, sorry this is such a ramble. I just feel like I have no plan since I have a doc who would be willing to keep me on subs for years if I wanted to be. I just want to rid myself of all of this.. any reply is welcomed!! Merry Christmas!!

Guarantee if you read through this thread from page 12 to current you have your answers. Get off the sub and go to Vics then taper down. Sub is downright nasty drug and hangs in your system for ever. Since you are within a couple weeks of taking it, I would make it a priority to get some short acting opiate. After 2-3 weeks of sub use, you are hooked. I did this and use Imodium since, stuff works plan and simple. Been clean for a week and no cravings or urges to use, not one bit.

So I got the flu real real sick. Took a Vicyesterday to get throught Christmas eve with the family and a couple pieces this morning for Christmas morning presents. The body aches from the flu wouldn't let me move so I did take them for that but it was still bad. I feel like crud I have to make it one more day then back on the Imodium.

Done - same here lol... Sinuses and throat are hurting but only Imodium, day 6 for me being clean. Big issue, I am completely stopped up. Thinking of taking tramadol for a couple of days to 'clean my system' I did have an urge last evening to take an opiate but thankfully that went away. Tonight we are supposed to get 1foot of snow and 40mph winds. Perfect! Hope you have a GREAT Christmas!

Why were you on subs in the first place? To get off of opiates. It's crazy to hear people recommend pain pills to get off of subs. You're just keeping the cycle going. I know it's a lot easier to say that when you're in w/d or active addiction but that's not something you'll hear from someone in recovery. Good luck either way.

Read through the thread, you will see.

That's exactly what I did, on subs for 14 days total, went to hyrdocodone for 1 week, took Imodium for 6 days and clean since. In all honesty, I would never have thought it would work, but it did, I AM FINALLY CLEAN!!!!!!!! No habit, no cravings = nothing.

What really worked was the Imodium. Took 10-14 tabs of those for the first 3-4 days with nothing else. It plugs you up, but all cleaned out now. The Imodium binds to your opiate receptors in your body, not your brain, so it's not a 'full-on' opiate, but an opioid.

I am SUPER-dang happy, all these years of habit are gone in the past. I will always be in recovery the rest of my life, I get addicted to things WAY to quick.

FYI - if you are on the fringe of quitting, take the Imodium, 10+ tabs daily for a week. Stuff works and I guarantee that.

I can understand that it may work for a few but there's a lot more people that will go back to abusing than those that will stay clean. I'm glad it worked for you and I wish you all the best. For me, it would have been a disaster. I have friends that have gone back and forth for years. Good luck!

Good job gibson I am mad that you bet me though. So I got real sick ended up in the emergency room with the flu it was bad never had it that bad. They gave me a script of norco for the pain and I've been using it as directed but I know I shouldn't. It helps a lot though and I'm going to use it till I'm better then toss what's left but I don't think there will be any. I worked sohard to be clean for Christmas and ended up spending it in the hospital. Life sucks some times no matter how hard you try it just gets in the way. I'm going back to Imodium after the flu is over but hopefully I won't need it. I was clean for a week before hand and I am taking the pills for actual pain so   Will see.
