Hello,
My husband was diagnosed with throat cancer and he just finished radiation and chemotherapy and, of course, we’re happy the cancer is gone, but his recovery isn’t easy at all. He constantly has this thick mucus that he can’t get rid of – coughing it up is impossible. If he tries to cough, it’s just exhausting for him and thick sputum still is there. The situation that causes us the most problems is eating. He is already weak from radiation and chemo and now when he tries to eat, sputum literally makes it impossible for food to come through. Drinking liquids does help at least a bit because they at least make it possible to swallow the mucous, but that’s no solution. If anyone has any idea why is this happening and how long will it last, your advice would be very appreciated.
