I am 25 years old, and I have had 8 bouts of tonsillitis and two bouts of strep throats this year alone, so my doctor pretty much told me they need to come out so I can have a longer life. I had my tonsils taken out two days after Christmas. It is now New Years Eve, so I guess this is technically day 5. I have been sleeping in a recliner, partially because I have alarms set to get up and take medicine and I don't want them to wake my husband, and partially because I can't lie down all the way. Last night the pain got so bad, a ran a hot bath at 3am, and had some seriously dramatic lonely moments with just me and the teeth gritting pain. Like for real guys, I was in a real dark place. It is about 12:30 now, I have forced down a few bites of ramen noodles so that I can take my liquid hydrocodone without throwing up. (That happened this first two days, and trust me stomach acid on your fresh throat wound is something you absolutely do not want). During the day my pain is more managed, and it might be because there are more distractions and such, but it really is such a huge difference. I have found that the ice cold drinks I needed the first few days hurt me, and I am better off with warm water and a heat pad on my jaw/ears. This forum has helped me knowing others are going through the same thing. I just hope I start seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, and hopefully this will all be worth it.
