This is a rather embarrassing question, but I can't seem to find the definitive answer...
I've got the 28-pill pack, with 7 of those pills with inert ingredients. The instructions state I have a choice of starting on Day 1 (first day of period) or first Sunday after start of period; I chose the former and started taking the pill on Day 1.
Question: I take 7 active pills during my period to start. After my period is over, I've got 14 more active pills to go. After the 14 active pills are done, I simply finish off the pack with the remaining 7 inert pills. But the instructions state I should be having my period during this time (7 inert pills). How is this possible considering my period runs on a 28 day cycle?
For example, I'm already taking 7 active pills during my period. There are 14 more active pills to go, hence, 14 more days of no period. My period isn't suppose to come for another 7 days! Yet at this time, I'd be taking the inert pills.
Did I screw up?? Was I suppose to start with the inert pills on Day 1? No where in the instructions was this pointed out.
Thank you for any help!

WHEN you are on birth control your cycle is changed completely, what it once was it is no longer!
YES You do start on the first day of your period, or within the first couple of days, and keep taking them everyday. When you start on your period you are protected from DAY 1..But if you start ANY OTHER time, your birth control is not effective for 7 days..It takes 7 days to fully put your ovaries at rest...
YOU DO NOT ovulate on the pill, so your whole cycle is changed.
YOU START the ACTIVE pills on day 1 !!

You may also notice that the pill may stop your period that you are on when you take it, this is normal if it does.
IT IS ALSO NORMAL to have strange extended bleeding as well.. Your body needs time to adjust.
