Hi, what a relief there are people out there with similar feelings. I have been experiencing tingling like pins & needle and pain also in my right leg. Mine usually occurs at night while i am meant to be sleeping, reading this forum I followed the advice and looked up "Meralgia Paresthetica" on the Mayo Clinic. com site, good information sounds very like what I have, what we could possibly have. I have taken up a workout regime of Pilates, Walking and alternate with rowing type machine, i too am right handed and thought this interesting when reading others comments about their experiences. I am overweight but managing well, no high blood pressure, just below the diabetic line in the safe zone, work in mainly stationary now which is new to me and have never had this type of feeling prior to my office position.

I had this back in 2002. I was referred to a neorologist. The tingle was in my left leg, I am not overweight and the pain is getting more intense. Back then the doc said it was a nerve ending from the lower part in my back. They gave me a shot in my back kinda like a spinal tap but not as painful!. This seemed to fix the problem till about 6 months ago it has come back. I have moved and that doctor is no longer where she was.

I have the same exact problem. The doctors keep telling me that it is nothing but a pinched nerve, but it is really annoying. I recently went to an orthopedic surgeon and he said that I should get an MRI so we will see what happens after that.

It can't be from wearing tight clothes, because I wear loose shorts and it still happens. I have heard everyone complaining about the same thing that I have, but no one has given me any answers. This is the weirdest sensation. Pins and needles, burnng an falling asleep on my left thigh. You can't even touch it. It happens when I am standing or walking and also just sitting or lying down. It is horrible and seems to be getting worse.
I had taken a fall a couple of years ago and got this after that. They say it is coming from my spine. I wish I could get some help.
Please let me know if anyone has any answers for this. Sorry we are all suffering with this. Thank you for any help you can give me.

it is called (Meralgia Paresthetica). I have had it for over a year now. since i gained back a ton of weigh i had lost and then being in a severe car accident where my hips were pinned. its your main nerve being pinched. there is a main nerve that sends and gathers information when that nerve is pinched it feels as if your thigh was doused in gasoline, set on fire all while someone was scraping it with a cheese grater. I go to the chiropractor, 2 times a week. that took care of it. then i injured my lower back moving heavy furniture and sadly now its back and it wakes me up at night. before i could ignore it and work through it, but now im practically in tears over the pain...
I have also gained weight enough to be at the heaviest i have ever been.
take care of your body and it will take care of you.

I also have this in my right thigh. When I'm shopping, it gets so bad! It's like thousands of hot pins & needles on the inside of your skin!
I also have pain where the hip and thigh meet. I can barely get back to my car. Once I sit down it feels better. I had it before I had Axilif surgery on my lower back, but now it's worse and the only thing that makes it feel better is lying down. I am also diabetic and overweight. I had to walk as much as possible after I had my back surgery & was excited about doing so, but it just makes the problem worse. I can barely stand to make supper or do dishes. Going to the doctor who did the back surgery and I'm not leaving until I get an answer. It is so much worse that before the surgery. Thought this surgery was going to be a miracle cure.

guys, I know this is not the answer you want to hear but I think the first step in recovery for most of you is losing a bit of weight. for a lot of you that could also help with the diabetes.
You have to understand that more weight means more "matter" between you skin, bones, muscles, and more interestingly in this case, nerves. This puts pressure on your nerves and may cause the tingling feeling. It may also cause other damage you are not noticing now such as joint pain, but you don't want to wait until things get worse.

I know the pain makes exercising worse, but you have to try and figure out a way to make things work for you. Your health is important, take care of your body :-)

I am not overweight, workout frequently and have that same tingling cold feeling in my right tigh.  It started at night time while in bed when my legs are stretched out.  Once I positon my leg upright in a 45 degrees angle, it stops.  As I am posting this message, I am having the sensation.  This is new since it used to just happen while in bed.  I just left my doctor a message to contact me asap.  I am nervous.  Any professional diagnosis and solutions?

Hey its probably a mix of your diet and weight, but as time goes on I think you will loose the feeling if you start eating the right foods and the fruits/veges that your body needs. Good luck.

i also have a tingling and numbness in my right thigh.  i am also right handed.  it started as a weird feeling i would get every once in a while, maybe 2 times a day, a feeling like someone was rubbing a feather on my thigh... a very quick light touch kinda feeling.  this sensation became more frequent and eventually it became a numbness that doesn't go away, ever.  earlier this year i was electrocuted then later i fell on my back hard and got some kinda pinched nerve in my lower back on the right side.  the electrocution has given me some problems with my shoulders.  i think these combined incidents helped bring about my thigh numbness.  i thought my problem might have been RDS causing the numbness but now that i've read this forum i'll check out the "MP" that you guys are talking about.  FYI: i am overweight, i don't have diabetis, i don't have high blood pressure, i do have chronic hives.

I am 28 years old, for 2 or 3 weeks now, i have been feeling a sort of numbing/burning feeling in my upper left thigh. Mostly in the back of my thigh. I am in fairly good shape and eating well and im not sure what this could be. I find it interesting that we all have this. Happens mostly when i am sitting down, but for some reason only the left thigh. It's occuring everyday and im beginning to worry. Never had anything like this in previous years. Let's keep posting comments here on our updates and see if we can figure this out. You'd figure working out and eating well could solve anything, we'll have to see. Peace.
