I have the same problem and also on the right side only and I am a Diabetic, too. I visited my doctor a few times, he didn't seem worry much. After a few times, he gave me a prescription to buy "Mobic" anti-inflamation but it didn't fix the problem. I had it for over a year now. It is very annoying and it makes me worry but no doctors could help. I hope to hear similar stories and hope if someone else had found a doctor who could help. It get worse at night time.

I am not a diabetic, but this weird feeling of numbness and pins and needles on my left upper thigh is horrible. It feels like a nerve that is on fire and then when I sit, after walking for a few minutes, it cools down and is ok.
It wakes me up in the middle of the night. I take mobic too, but it doesn't get rid of this. When I walk in the supermarket, it really gets to me. I guess the concrete floor is not good. I think it is sciatica, and that is weird, because sciatica is usuallly in the back or side. I do think it is coming from my spine though, as my spine is not good.
Good luck, and if you find anything out, please let me know. TY.

it is because there is no proper circulaion of blood if you sit idle for a long time without moving your hands or legs for a long time. this makes it ump and you feel like pins are pricking you. this is normal unless this happenseverytime even when you are walking.....

I feel it too. It's worse when I have been standing up. I am obese and some have told me that's the reason, others told me it can be sciatica. Then I sit down for 5 minutes and its ok.

I am right handed too, and it is on my left upper thigh. It is such a weird sensation and it happens especially when I walk after 10 minutes or more and then have to rest it.

Likely you are sinching your belt too tight and over time are causing your leg to go to sleep. Loose some weight. Loosen ur belt. If its this, which my doctor is the one who gave me this advice and it worked. It was my belt!!! If its diabetes related, then no idea. Try this though. Thanks.

Here is help and solution that may work for some of you.
I am 76 years of age, had same tingling, burning and numbness on my both thigh for two month on and off.
When walk make long step. When stand point foot inward about 30 degree or more. Siting, massage and squeeze as hard as you can above your knee. When siting elevate your leg. People over weight, no activity, over active, dehidred, warm weather may contribuit to sympton. Do not worry, this is not health problem to panic. I am sharing my experience which works for me. I hope, it may work for some of you, using my methode. After two weeks let me know.

Meralgia paraesthetica is a neurological (nerve) condition that causes pain in the outer thigh. It is caused by compression of a nerve called the lateral cutaneous nerve of the thigh. This nerve supplies sensation (feeling) to the outer thigh. In many cases, the cause is not known. Usually the condition improves with conservative (nonsurgical) treatment - such as anti-inflammatories, painkillers or steroid injections.

What is meralgia paraesthetica?

Meralgia paraesthetica is a neurological (nerve) condition that causes an area of skin over the upper outer thigh to become painful, numb or tingly. Meralgia paraesthetica is known as a nerve entrapment syndrome. This means it is a collection of symptoms caused by a trapped (or compressed) nerve. The trapped nerve in question is called the lateral cutaneous nerve of the thigh (also known as the lateral femoral nerve).

hey spider, I'm kinda having the same problem as you except my doctor did send me to get an MRI on my back which they did and they said they found a small fatty tumor at the bottom of my spine which he said could be why I'm feeling those needles stabbings plus both of mt feet are completely numb 24/7. Some days wowrse than others but like you said,,,,,I deal with it every day until they ever give me an answer :)
