First time I have ever posted to a board but this surgery definitely warrants its own post. I am a 35 year old female and today is the morning of Day 7 of my tonsils and adenoids removed. Prior to surgery I researched the internet and nearly read myself into canceling. I was so sick from anxiety when I arrived at the hospital in tow with my mother. I don't know if my doctor is just excellent or God really has spared me but the pain hasn't been nearly as bad as some of the sore throats I have had. My problems have been not being able to sleep (my max is 3 hours now...days 1-3 were about 20 mins. My uvula was so huge I felt like gagging) and not being able to use the rest room. The nurse suggested Miralax beginning day one which I did yet that didn't work so I tried pills day 5 and was able to go a little bit. Still don't understand this one. Now...food...popsicles have been my best friend. They are extremely soothing...and applesauce. Other lifesavers have been ice water, gum when not drinking water, and a humidifier from Walgreens. Ice cream is okay as well as pudding but are took thick in my opinion. Scares..on day 5 I didnt sleep with my humidifier on and woke up coughing blood. Freaked me out but started drinking ice water and eventually it stopped. The scabs are not for the weak. I check the progress all the time which probably isn't good. Time for me to go back to sleep. So much more I could write. Lastly this will show you who your true friends are #wink
