Hello,

I'm a 20 y.o girl and I got my tonsils out 10 days ago (9th day post-op). I have had a really painful, rocky recovery. On day 5 I was admitted to hospital with a bleed. The ENT said most post-operative bleeding is because of infection so I was given antibiotics and tranexamic acid. I stayed in for 2 days until there were no more traces of blood in my saliva.

By Day 8 I barely had any pain, just some discomfort. I've been eating normally since then. However, I've noticed I still have about 60% of my scabs, even though I don't have any pain. What I'm worried about now is that I've booked a train ticket back to London tomorrow (where I'm studying, away from my family) is the possibility it could get bad again. Will I be OK to go back? I'm really worried about the prospect of bleeding again as the scabs are still on, even though I feel fine. Is that likely? How long does it take for all the scabs to fall off completely? It will be day 11 tomorrow, is there a possibility something could go wrong again or have I surpassed the worst of it?  I know I probably sound really silly but something just doesn't seem right. I've had my fair share of excruciating pain. But to go from bleeding and hospitalised, then to no painkillers on day 8, I'm worried that it could all take a turn for the worst again when I'm meant to be heading back. I've not heard of anyone else feeling well enough to stop painkillers on day 8.

Also does anyone have any tips on how to prevent any further bleeding? Since going to hospital I've become rather paranoid it will happen again.

Hello, I know this an old post from ages ago but I was just wondering if your pain stayed down after day 8 and were you able to go on your trip to London so early? I’m needed to go into school Monday which will be day 11 but unsure if it’ll be possible it’s just to do some tests not pe or anything.
