Hiya, when I was on day seven I still had loads of scabs, (white tonsils) but only today day 9 I noticed that they've started falling off and like the person said in the comments .. you tend too swallow it with food.. I'm scared if I'll bleed.... If your worried about anything ring your surgeon or dial 111 you can ring this number for any advise that isn't a huge emergency but something you are concerned on :) hope this helps.. don't be worried.. I know I'm worried too but the worst will be over after like day 14 .. just eat sleep relax replete!

I am on day 7 post-operation and my mouth tastes awful, I have tried brushing my tongue as much as possible but my tongue is still covered in a gross white/yellow lawn. I haven't had any scabs fall off yet and I just started having an elevated temperature even though I am drinking a ton of fluids. I haven't had much pain until the last 2 days the ear pain is the worst at early in the morning.

Hi my son is 21 on Day 7, the pain is horrendous, not eaten since day 2, it's the ear pain that's worse. He keeps saying he wish he never had it done.

Omg! I’m having the same problem. Had mine taken out five days ago now and I can barely open my mouth or swallow. It hurts so bad. Only thing I’ve been able to eat is icees and a little bit of gravy. My meds burn going down so I quit taking after like day two. This is the worst pain I have ever been in!

Hey I am 23 currently having the same problem am on day 6 of surgery can’t do the pain meds because they make me sick. Honestly I have been taking ibuprofen and that seems to be doing the trick as far as severe pain, otherwise it just feels like the worst case of strep I have ever had. My tongue hurts more than anything. And I can’t eat anything. I do constantly have this feeling like there is something stuck in my throat?? Helppp am I almost done with this treachery

Hi I'm 32 and got a tonsils removed on top of two nose surgurys. Total regret doing all at the same time. For the tonsils I feel like the Doctor's cut my throat with a machete and said 'good luck'. Pain was brutal and caused me to have a panic attack. Trick is to drink and eat even though it hurts! You will feel better. Day 4-6 was the worst! Lived off banana popscicles. Once I started to force myself to eat which was brutal I slept better and felt better every morning. I really recommend popsicles, soups and light pastas when you start solids. Warm liquids were better for me after day 6. Hang in there! But I truly think they should keep people overnight at least to monitor pain and get you fully hydrated before they send you home with crappy pain killers that wear off after 2.5 hours. But we all survived to tell out tail! Good luck! Make sure you have TLC you will need it.

When does this get better?! Help! I’m on day 7 and pain is still awful and no scabs have fallen off yet... that I am aware of but will I know? I wake up and cry in pain for an hour and then throughout day the pain goes in waves. I try to eat something besides yogurt and popsicles and feel ok but after I pay the price as I am in awful pain after so it’s not worth it. Dropped 10 pounds in a week which I don’t want to lose and feel nauseas all the time. Still need liquid narcos every few hours.. when does this get better?!?

Well...what ended up happening? Did you swallow them or cough them up? Seeing as this was over a year ago now, I'm hoping you're better now! Lol

I had my tonsils removed Monday the 16th of April, and this morning I swallowed a piece of my scab. You sort of go into a coughing fit because you feel it hanging on your uvula.

I am 14 and male. This tonsil surgery killed me even though i am only about 3 days in. I wake up with terrible pain and i can barely take my meds and when i do take them i end up in more pain. I am wanting to take the scabs off myself rather than waiting for hem to come off. I want to eat a famous bowl from kfc but its hard to chew the chicken and corn. When i drink i drink water with the meds and vanilla shakes and dr. Pepper for a cold drink. When i am in a lot if pain before i at i try to chew ice to numb the back of my throat to eat any food or shakes. Is it ok to rip the scabs of about 3 days after my surgery?

Hi! I feel your pain. Im on day 5 and I’m 41 and the only thing I can eat is popsicles, mashed potatoes and drink is water. I can really only eat a bite or two, but I try every time I take pain medication. I threw up all of day 2 because of the pain medication, so my doctor called me in an anti-neusea suppository which worked wonders and I’ve been able to take pain meds ever since. I also drink liquid Childrens ibuprofen bubble gum flavor every couple of hours and that helps too. Good luck!
