I have had some problems with my throat lately. I have been feeling a lump in my throat that usually gets bigger in the evening and causes problems with my breathing. I went to see a doc but she didn’t find anything and sent me to ENT to have me checked. She didn’t find anything in my throat but she said that my tonsils are ruined and that I may have to take them out. I am 25 and female. I heard that this procedure really hurts especially when you are older. Can you tell me more about it? Thx

Hey don’t worry so much about it. It doesn’t have to mean that you will really undergo tonsillectomy. I was told the same thing a year ago and I haven’t had any problems ever since, so you may even avoid it. As for the procedure, a patient is always given anesthesia, so even if you do have to undergo this procedure you won’t feel a thing during the surgery. However, you may experience problems after the surgery like difficulties swallowing, vomiting, throat and ear pain or bleeding. Well, this wasn’t to comforting, was it?
