I thought i'd try to avoid taking the pain meds, save them for when i really need them. I have found in the past that if i start taking right away, they begin to loose their potency and i want higher doses. Anyway, no pain meds on day two and ive been fine, tolerating the pain that would be a tad worse than my worst sore throat. uvula is swollen, tongue and neck as well, but not as much as i was expecting. I noticed that the pain meds are strictly for pain, no anti-inflammatory support support at all. Sounds crazy not talking the meds i know, but i like to know what i level of pain i am dealing with before doing so.
How the first day went, easy wake up from surgery, no ill effects, ate popsicles, ice water, went home. At home, i wanted to walk around the house, yard and just try to get the anastasia circulating out of my system. I was able to walk to my neighbors and hang out in the garage with him for a few. Walked home, had jello some water, and a ensure drink. Laid down for the night around 8pm, watched movies, awake and little sleep for hours on and off, finally turned tv off and 4am. Today, ate about the same all day, going to try some chicken broth. Need some better form of protein, broth could be good. MAybe later i will try some macaroni and cheese, and just plain pasta, or maybe a crazy monster cheeseburger : ) not. but oh man, cheeseburger, that sounds so good.
Tonight i will do some work, i print large format giclee prints as an aditional service at my gallery. I brought a printer home to manage some of the work load. Digital camera and reproducing art on canvas in the majority of what we do, though also print on other media like watercolor papers etc.. alright i am rambling, but rambling helps with the healing, so i think it is ok.
as far as condition of my throat. looks like no bleeding, big white spots where tonsils were, and like i mentioned, some swelling. like me tell you, how great it was to see those tonsils in a baggy and not in my throat any longer. i ask the doc after surgery if i could see them, he brought them over. it was like seeing the criminal who ruined a part of my life. i looked at the tonsils with anger, excitement, and relief. They looked so unhealthy, dark red, with all the white spots and i took notice to the back side of the tonsil i had more problems with. it had big white tonsiths on it, and i remember always feeling the things on the back of my throat, just could never see them. i wondered if he got it all becasue the do look a tad smaller in the baggy, well after looking at my throat he did get them all. i had a deep crevasse on the right tonsil that seemed like it went into my ear, i could see tonsiths way back inside if i pried it open with a q-tip. the crevasse is gone!!! wow, to not have to look at my tonsils every morning, that is going to be so great. i would even check on them at work durring the day, thats how huge the things effected me. life will be different, that is for sure. thanks for reading and allowing me to ramble. i will add more to this post as healing continues, then, i will walk away from it all!!!! to never worry or think about tonsils again, that is going to be awesome! jim
HI there, I hope that you're doing well. Can you tell us how you're doing without the pain meds still? Do you think that you need them yet or are you still doing okay? Let me know how you're doing okay?

I started taking the meds yesterday as pain started to increase. with the meds i am able to eat a bit easier and of course get much deeper sleep, so from here out i will be relying on the meds. i am normally one that avoids taking even tylenol, but i will throw in the towel on this one. my diet for last few days, chicken broth, jello, ensure, water and yogurt. the broth is so good, highly recommend it. are you (healthfitnessguy) considering having a tonsillectomy?
