Hello everyone, this is my first time ever posting something health related on the internet, so I apologize if this topic is in the wrong section or similar.Anyway, I'm 14 years old and have a problem regarding my neck. I'll post an in-depth description here (and some other things which may have started this).
A few days ago, I experienced pain in my neck. Shallow pain, as if I slept in an awkward position. I went to sleep, but I later woke up with a fever. My whole neck and torso hurt like hell - typical fever problems, I guess. My body temperature was around 38.0-38.8 degrees (Celsius, that is). However, unlike previous fevers I had, this one took much longer (2 days) to get rid of. Sometimes, my body temperature would be normal, but after that it would quickly increase, thus causing problems again.During the fever, I noticed two small pea sized balls on the left and right sides of my neck. The one on the left side is positioned deeper inside the skin, while the one on the right is quite shallow. They hurt when I touch them, and they're quite hard. I can't move them around, it's like they're fixed to a muscle. Me and my parents came to a conclusion that my lyphe nodes in the neck were swollen because of the fever.Soon enough, the fever was gone, but my throat hurt really badly. At first, I thought that the fever turned into a cold or something, but the pain was much different. It felt like there was something stuck on the left side on my throat. It didn't hurt much at the beginning, but it hurts really badly now. It hurts every time I swallow, and I sometimes feel like there's something coming out of the little "bump" (so to speak) on my throat.I gargled some warm water with salt to lessen the pain. And it did stop the pain. For 10 to 15 minutes, at least. However, I'd see thick, white liquid in the water after I spit it out. I'm pretty sure that it's pus that coming out of the bump inside my throat. It's in small quantities, but it's still there. The two pea sized balls are still on my neck, and I think the one on the left side is the one that's causing me problems with my throat. It's not my whole throat that hurts though, JUST the left side, were the small bump is positioned. It's on the wall of the throat (not sure if that makes sense, if not - forgive me, I'm not a native English speaker). Eating food and drinking/swallowing hurts (again, it's only the left side of the throat that hurts). After gargling again this evening, I noticed some blood along with the pus. I'm not too worried though, since I'm guessing that it's normal to see blood coming out of the small bump (think of an acne) after the pus.
I really have no idea what could have started all of this. However, it might have been because I drank some old water from my bottle that I carry to school. I'm a lazy ass and I don't change the water frequently, so the water in the bottle was approximately 3 months old. I'm not sure if bacteria or viruses could have gotten inside that caused the fever and this weird throat pain.To me, it seems like bacterial infection, and I'm pretty sure that it will be gone after a week or so. But I've been experiencing the throat pain for about 3 days now, and I don't feel any better. Gargling helps temporarily, I've been using an antibotic for some time now, but still, it doesn't help. Also, my throat hurts when yawning, when I open my mouth widely and when burping (as weird as it sounds). Drinking limonade seems to irritate the bump as well. It stings quite quite badly, suggesting that it's maybe an open wound in the throat?
I'm thinking of going to a doctor, but I first wanted to see what it could possibly be. My guess is that one of the lymphe nodes ruptured or something and formed a small "acne" on the wall of my throat.I'll post any information if needed, and thanks to whoever took their time to read this.
