Alcohol would burn your glans. Don't use perfumed soaps or shower gels. Use a neutral pH soap. Rinse thoroughly with warm water. Never over wash, but gently rub off smegma and after ejac , rinse well. Don't dry. Ask your doctor if povidone iodine ointment can be used if no allergy to iodine, a match size rubbed on once a month helped for me, they use this for skin burns, stains wash out with water.

I'm 17 And had the Same problem, it couldn't be an sti because I'm a virgin do I went On the NHS website and they said to just wash that area every day with warm water no soap no talc powder or anything, this is a common problem and after a week no smell at all. Try just warm water because soap and talc can cause irritation which can lead to the smell!

There are about twenty different suggestions here about what to do with foreskin stink but actually none of them will work because foreskins ooze oils make smegma and trap urine traces so they ALWAYS stink.   There is only one solution and that is circumcision.  This will not only get rid of the smell forever.  It is scientifically proved to give better protection against HIV , genital warts, and almost all sexually transmitted diseases (these are easier to catch with foreskins because the warm moist foreskin hosts bacteria and viruses).  It will make it easier to use condoms. It will make your penis more attractive to partners esp for oral sex.  It will prevent all kinds of foreskin problems such as phimosis, balanitis, and  torn frenulum.  Several scientific studies show that circumcised men have the same or enhance sexual pleasure. One third of the men on earth are circumcised.   Don't believe the c**p that foreskin fetishists spread against circumcision.  It is the way to go and you will never regret it.   Stink problem solved!

i got a question, i can put baby powder down there? i know you can but would it benefit the smell and would it work for anything else?

I had the same problem and solved it in one day.

Dilute Dettol in warm water,,,one cap full to half a baisin.

Dip your problem child into the water with the skin pulled back.

Do not wash off the Dettol.

Burns very slightly but works like a charm.

Ignore my post about using Dettol.

Only works for a day or two.

The real cause of problem is too much acid in the system which makes the pee very yellow.

I took an alkaline powder to neutralise the acid, and the smell disappeared.

If you have good hygiene - proper washing with an appropriate soap - nothing too stringent or 'anti-bacterial' - then the issue is likely to be caused by a yeast 'infection' - I use the word with caution, since we're covered - inside & out - with yeasts. When they proliferate abnormally (and anti-bacterials / antibiotics can cause the natural microbial balance to become acutely or chronically changed, favouring the growth of fungal organisms / yeasts), a sweet, 'fishy' odour is often the main symptom.

Go see your doctor. An anti-fungal cream - such as Clotrimazole - can solve this problem when used according to instructions.

It has nothing to do with being uncircumcised, masturbating etc. Sweating can indirectly make the problem worse - since yeasts can tolerate moisture very well.

Anyone circumcised or foreskinned can get smelly if one does not wash enough. If you are not cleaning out your foreskin that could be the cause of the smell.


It is really easy to painlessly clean out your foreskin without retracting it. Here are two ways:

1. Urine is a sterile substance when it leaves the body so it is an excellent washing agent. Pinch the tip of your foreskin shut when you pee. Let the urine fill up your foreskin. You will see your foreskin balloon because of the urine inside. Then release the tip and all of the urine inside your foreskin will come gushing out and clean out whatever is inside. This is best done in the shower as it tends to be messy.

2. Get a rubber bulb ear syringe from a drug store, pharmacy, or chemist’s shop. These are designed to squirt warm water into ear canals to clean them out. They also work great for cleaning out foreskins. Fill the ear syringe with warm (not hot) water and then insert the tip of the syringe into your foreskin. Then squeeze the bulb and a jet of warm water will squirt into your foreskin and clean out whatever is inside.

Don’t use soap, shampoo, or body wash inside your foreskin because soap dries out the skin oils essential for good health.

If your foreskin is "stuck" behind the head, then you have a condition called "paraphimosis".


Paraphimosis is the name of the condition of a retracted foreskin that is stuck behind the glans penis (head) of the penis and will not go forward. One can read about paraphimosis on the Internet.

If the foreskin is tight enough it can cut off blood circulation to the head and cause edema (swelling due to fluid accumulation). Paraphimosis should be promptly reduced when it occurs. Paraphimosis may be reduced by squeezing the head of the penis really hard to force the blood to leave the head. This will temporarily reduce the size of the head at which time the foreskin may be brought forward.

If attempts to reduce the paraphimosis are unsuccessful, then one should go to the emergency room of a nearby hospital. It is not necessary or advisable to be circumcised although some old-fashioned doctors are likely to recommend it.
