My 26 yr old son has type 1 diabetes, diagnosed about 9 yrs ago. For the past year he has had uncontrollable diarrhea. Doesn’t matter what he eats, he’ll get very bad stomach pains then diarrhea, a few times a month he’ll be nauseous and vomit. He’s tried no dairy, no change. No gluten, no change. His GI doctor has tested his stool, done a endoscopy, colonoscopy, gastric stomach emptying test and an MRI. The stomach emptying test just showed very miled delay. And the doctor suggested he eat small low fat meals. My son is barely eating because of the diarrhea. He tested negative for celiac and chrones. He lives on Imodium and has been taking benefiber as well as acidophilus and probiotics. I’m at a loss on what to do next and my son has just about given up. He’s tired of doctors and tests. Any suggestions? If the GI can’t figure this out who do we see next? Thanks
