I'm 38 and female, and this has been happening to me for a few years at least. Most often my fingers (thumb mostly) and a few times on my toes.
Here's a question for you: do any of you ever have ruptured blood vessels in your eyes?
A couple or three times a year I wake up and find a bright red bloody patch on my eyeball. It's a ruptured blood vessel, like my hand and feet, but the difference is that it doesn't hurt at all. Its a total surprise when it happens - i never feel any pain or trauma - I just wake up with a scary moster-looking eye. Occasionally after the broken bv appears, that area of my eye feels a little dry and scratchy. I don't rub it, as I've learned that this makes it so much worse. The eye usually takes weeks to heal.
Anybody else?

I have had this spontaneous bursting of ?capillaries in my fingers and toes since I was a teenager and I am now 66, healthy, low bp, cholesterol, etc.. Any Dr. I have asked about it is clueless. They have never offered any explanation or recommendation. My only worry is whether larger blood vessels could experience the same bursts. My mother had a hemorrhagic stroke in her 40's (she was, however, a smoker?). I wish there was a website where we could all report our experiences.

I have just had this happen to me this evening. I was cooking and I felt a sharpness, then it swelled and now it's black. I have had this in the past a few times. I work with my hands so thought maybe they are getting strained. But this site makes me see it's much more common!
