So glad to fund this page. I have had my mirena for 8 months. After 6 months I started boticing the smell. I went to my PA and she teated for bacterial infection. Results came back said I didn't have one but gave me an antibiotic. At that point I hadn't had sex In 8 months. After the medicine the smell went away. i was odor free for 2 months. Had a check up with my gyno she tested me and I had no infections and a week after that check the amell came back. I have had to wear a panty liner almost the entire time I have had this thing. I had it implanted to slow down my extreme menstral cycle from my fibroids. Had a tubal 10 years ago. This smell is driving me crazy and I can't stand smelling myself.

I found out that the smell is from the imbalance of hormones from your body adjusting to your implant. Basically, your body is trying to repel a foreign object, and is all in a tizzy over it. So I thought I'd try a few things to help me body, because I do love my IUD and I want to two to get along.
1. Greek yogurt. If you do not eat it on a daily basis, give it a try. I eat it for snacks, so I have about 2 a day. It gives your body the bacteria it needs for your lady parts to keep the balance healthy. Although I understand not everyone can have greek yogurt, so here's the other stuff I found...
2. "Lady Part Soap", like Summers Eve. I actually get the Walmart brand because it's only $1.97. I put "soap" in quotations because it's not actually soap. Although it is a cleanser, and it will help regulate your body's natural bacteria and hormones from the outside.
3. "Lady Part Spray", also, like Summer's Eve. This one I actually do use Summers Eve. I spray it on the outside of my pants/ leggings in that area and it does wonders. Of course, this only helps throughout the day.
4. Monistat. I got the off-brand 7 day because it was only $5 and I didn't know how long I'd need to use it. Turns out that I only had to use 2 days worth this time. I take it at night when I sleep, wake up and shower with my soap, and then keep the spray in case I need it. I have already seen a drastic improvement over the last week.
I really hope this helps someone. I tried the most inexpensive ways that I could think of to help after I read up on what I thought the reason was. I'm also a self-solver, so I wouldn't advise using any of this if you have and it hasn't worked, or you know you won't react well to it. Still, I thought I'd add what has helped me. Good luck, ladies!
