I hope it's nothing serious because I get the same thing. I've had numerous cat scans that have revealed nothing. For a variety of reasons, not just this one in particular. Now I worry about having too many CT scans. The cough might be GERD. Good luck. Try to find out what it is.

I had my gallbladder removed to resolve these problems just to find out 2yrs later that you can still get gallstones and the pain that goes with it :(

I had a similar problem, turned out to be Pancreatitis caused by gall stones blocking the duct in my pancreas. I was suppose to have my gall bladder removed 5 years ago and have been putting it off. Regretting it now. My pain has returned to the center of my rib cage and on the right. Can control it with a very low fat diet and digestive enzymes but it's getting old. Making a trip to my doctor soon.

Tell them to do a mug-a-scan...It tests your gall bladder to see if t functions...I had it for 15 years before they finally found out that my gall bladder didn't function

I've had these same pains approximately 6 years ago.  The pain was located in the center of my rib cage and would only occur late at night.  It was my gall bladder and a stone was blocking the bile duct.  I had the gall bladder removed and now pain free.

I've had similar stomach issues right in the middle of your stomach but up at the top below the rib cage. Been diagsnosed with an ulcer but now I am currently being tested for "H-PYLORI" its a bacterial bug in the stomach, its as simple as a blood test. My sister experienced the same pain & was diagnosed with it, so I in turn ask my doctor. Blood tests still pending but with antiboitics my sister is now pain free!!

I just want the pain to go away. Ecpecially becayse my birthday is coming up and I would like to enjoy it :C

My grand mother has suffered the same pain. All results came out perfectly well. Ecg was perfectly normal. But one day she could not resist the pain and stopped breathing. We thought it to be a heart attack. But she died holding her upper abdomenal part. I regret finding out about it on the net. Please get yourself diagnosed ASAP and save yourselves or your loved ones.

I read a lot of people looking for medication to stop the pain issue.  I had similar issues, had my gallbladder removed and that seemed to help, but the pain never fully went away.

I changed my diet to eliminate gluten and I have not had any issues since.

My 6 year old daughter has has the same symptoms highlighted in this thread including severe stomach pain, vomiting, etc... doctors almost removed her appendix, but we asked them not to because noting else pointed to it being her appendix (2 years later no appendix problems).  We took her off gluten and she has been pretty healthy (knock on wood) since.  An occasional flair up, but I have gone gluten free too and it has definately helped - I have even lost weight.

It's not easy at first and it's not cheap, but it has worked for me and others.  If it's that bad and your doctors haven't been able to find the issue it doesn't hurt to try.  (Gluten is a know inflammatory in the body and it's use in foods has been on the rise over the past few decades so I'm not surprised to see so many people with symptoms similar to celiac's disease)

I'm having nearly identical symptoms, with variation such as heart pain, lower left abdomen pain, distended stomach, etc. I'm going to have an h. Pylori test done next Thursday, but I have a feeling it's gallbladder related. You need an ultrasound at the least, or stool, blood, and urine tests.

Hi All

I have been suffering the same symptoms for years on and off. Many doctor bought that this type of pain comes from nervousness and stress and prescribed light pain killers and Nexium 40mg.

However, One of the od Doctors told me that the symptoms lead him to believe that I might have very nasty stomach bacteria called " Helicobacter pylori " previously named Campylobacter pyloridis, is a Gram- negative, microaerophilic bacterium.

Test for this bacteria is very easy and you blow the air from your stomach into a tube that has some material that reacts on Helicobacter pylori.Very nasty pain under the rib cage and its treated with the course of antibiotics and Nexium.
