I know this is an old post but how did you get on with this? I also have a severe peanut allergy by the way and have had AS a few years ago.

Hi, I realise this is now old, but has anyone had any diagnosis on this?

I have been to the doctor twice for this over the course of about 10 years. Nothing has come back, and my doctor chalks it up to ovulation bleeding. It happens to me almost every month during ovulation, after an intense exercise session.

I've been experiencing the same thing for the past few months. I do intensity work outs and sometimes just simple workouts, but the effects are still the same. Its a mix of spotting, reddish/brownish, and sometimes (gross as this sounds) mucus like thick discharge. No sex, no baby, not genetic, never was an issue before. Im almost 26 now. Just seeing some replies I'm starting to notice this isn't as "rare" as gynos put it. Definitely another opinion in this case.

First off! I am right there with all of you! I have been experiencing "the feeling like I'm going to die" whenever I push myself in a workout. It's usually part way through my workout, or when I do a sprint, go up a hill or push myself in any way (even if it's just for a few seconds). All of a sudden I get nauseous, I start to feel faint and I start sweating a lot, I get the worst cramps and all of a sudden feel like I'm both going to puke and go to the bathroom (like, I have to take a dump). The cramps last anywhere from 5 -20 or 30 mins and are VERY intense. When I get home I have always found that I started bleeding which for me only lasts the day. I went to the doctor and they said I was fine but told me maybe I should stop working out. I thought it had to do with coffee consumption or dehydration, but now I think it has to do with an electrolyte imbalance and I would encourage you all to look into it! It happened to me again this morning while I was on my period and I don't think this cramping and bleeding has to do with your monthly cycle OR hormones. I think it may have to do with diet and electrolytes and the reason why we only get it when we do an intense workout or push ourselves is because we start sweating more which triggers the symptoms. This also explains why the OBGYNS think we are all fine downtown. Also, trying to solve this problem by getting on the pill could cause more problems so be careful!! I'm going to start drinking coconut water (high in electrolytes) before I workout and see if that helps.

Thanks I was thinking it had to do with estrogen and cortisol and you just confirmed for me, I have uterine polyps as well and they are also linked to high estrogen thanks so much. I’ll look for the supplement you suggest, thank you

I started to get bleeding when I started to eat healthy and lost 17 lbs over 2 months. It seems to come around ovulation and disappears after ovulation. it usually isn’t very heavy but recently I started to watch what I eat and exercise. I’m losing weight again and it’s much worse now especially after exercise. From what I understand it’s from excess estrogen, stress (exercise is a stressor) can throw hormones out of wack and increase cortisol. I was diagnosed with polyps and they are also linked to estrogen. Fat cells hold onto hormones such as estrogen and as you lose weight more estrogen gets released into your system. Get estrogen under control and balance your hormones. Birth control will also throw your hormones out of whack.

I Used to swim 2 hours a day for months and jyest got back to the gym last week, I usually spend 20 minutes on the stationary bike, 10 on lifting machines, 10 on rowing, 20 on elliptical machine, today I returned home with no pain at all but bright red bleeding, sometimes brown ish but mostly bright red, my periods are extremely painful that I have to take codein or tramadol to cope, this bleeding is painless, still bleeding now , was panicking until i saw this thread, I will try coconut water as well, will give it 2-4 weeks as our bodies need time to adapt to changes

I just talked to my physical therapist today about this very thing. I have very weak back and stomach muscles and am going through PT for my back. Last week was my first time there and for about 3-4 days after my initial meeting/workout, i spotted blood. I talked with my physical therapist and she said this is normal if your muscles are weak and you are working them hard. so yes, this IS normal to muscles we dont use/work out normally and tightening those abs could be doing that...i would keep working through it. IF it gets heavy then go to doc.

I experience the exact same symptoms as you, the cramps have been so bad once that I could hardly walk. I was on a run where I was mixing sprints with walking and I felt like I was going to pass out when the cramps hit. If labour is anything like that I’m scared... just got back from spinning earlier, got bad cramps but not as bad as I’ve had before. I’m currently ovulating so I thought it must be that. However, I’ve just noticed that I’m spotting. Rather concerning, as it’s the first time this has happened. I have been dehydrated so it might be that too. GOSH. Will most definitely check in at the gyne Incase though. Let me know if the electrolyte thing helps. I think I’m going to try that too. A few of my friends have experienced the same thing but not the spotting. Mystery isn’t it..

My son was getting anaphylactic response to stress, long story short, his body didn't know how to process his stress hormones in adolescenc, probably due to his connective tissue disorder. Thankfully this has resolved.

I get this too! But only with a couple factors in place: during ovulation, after using the exercise bike for thirty minutes (sometimes there seems to be ovary pain but not always), and only when I’m actively on Zoloft. Whenever I’ve quit the Zoloft this doesn’t happen. Wish this was more common knowledge and something easier to Google. Thank goodness for this form!
